Another Russian plane (a cargo plane) has crashed along the banks of the Nile River in Sudan today killing dozens of people in the second deadly crash of a Russian plane in the region in less than a week. Was that crash also “an accident”? Are aircrafts falling from the sky be sheer accidents?

And now the UK says that the Russian plane that went down in Egypt's volatile Sinai Peninsula on Saturday "may well have been brought down by an explosive device," the UK Prime Minister's Office announced today.

What no one has fully debunked is the video ISIS provided in which critics never completely discounted and failed to show where did this footage come from? This is an important issue.

When it comes to Metrojet Flight 9268 in the Sinai no one produced a similar video that was taken in the past. On October 31, Shoebat.com reported that a missile was the plausible conclusion. And besides the UK supporting that an explosion is plausible, now a “U.S. military satellite detected a midair heat flash from the Russian airliner before the plane crashed Saturday, a U.S. official told CNN.” CNN adds:

Intelligence analysis has ruled out that the Russian commercial airplane was struck by a missile, but the new information suggests that there was a catastrophic in-flight event— including possibly a bomb, though experts are considering other explanations, according to U.S. officials.

More evidence reveals that our report is plausible. Cockpit recordings reveal  "sounds uncharacteristic of routine flight," according to a report from the Interfax news agency quoting officials in Cairo who say they have heard audio recordings from the Airbus 321's cockpit voice recorders and that the transcript indicated that the conversation was routine until the "sounds uncharacteristic of routine flight" were heard.

To add to our report, the Russian news agency Tass reported that "elements that were not part of the plane" were found at the crash site," and  that those elements had been "sent for analysis."

It all seems to add up and according to the Associated  Press, Alexander Smirnov, deputy general director of the airline, Kogalymavia (the legally incorporated name of Metrojet) said Monday, “We rule out a technical fault of the plane or a pilot error. The only possible explanation could be an external impact on the airplane.”

The “only possible explanation” is “an external impact” which (if true) would indicate a missile.

Taking the video produced by ISIS and breaking it into frames reveals that this is a likely case. Although the video quality is poor, breaking it into frames reveals that the frame upon that “impact” (see frame #2 below) shows an incoming under the plane.

Not all missiles show a trace. In a following different footage, one can notice the missile at 1:30 appears as a shadow approaching the craft and the strike is hardly noticeable (see 1:30):

But to balance our observation we must also report others who would disagree. Steve Chadwick OBE, a former RAF commander with 26 years experience, has said the video not only shows the wrong type of plane, but also the wrong kind of fire.

He told Mirror Online: “It's laughable that they might claim that is an Airbus 321. That is not an Airbus.”

“Even though the footage is very grainy that is an aircraft with the engines under the tail.”

“If the engine was on fire it would be coming from under the wing.”

Mr Chadwick believes the plane in the footage could be Ilyushin-62, the Russian version of the VC10, a legacy aircraft from the 1960s still in use.

The ex-pilot also refuted any claims the footage shows a plane hit by a missile or that the footage was even taken from the ground.

He said: “If that was hit with a surface-to-air missile it would obliterate it. It would disintegrate it and you would be looking at confetti. It's just smoking.”

“What they've done is they've found [footage of] a plane with an engine fire.

“That's air-to-air footage, it's an aircraft following at a similar speed.”

However, they add: “Although unable to say categorically it is a fake, there are several reasons to question its credibility” they said.

Also, if one reviews the frames, the initial explosion is under the left wing and only in the frame after that one can see the fire remaining behind. Also, no expert was able to reproduce this video or show the origin of the footage.

Journalist Rob McDonagh told Mirror Online: “There are number of reasons we think it is not authentic; first of all, the plane started descending rapidly from about 33,000 feet.

“This plane appears to have been filmed flying at a much lower altitude.”

He continued: “Secondly, the video was not circulated in the usual manner; it was not posted to Telegram, the anonymous app, in the same way as previous IS videos, and it was not posted on the IS website.

“Finally, though the branding is similar to previous Wilayat Sinai videos, it is not exactly right.

“The logo, for example, does not appear throughout the videos, as is common.”

However, he adds: “Though we can’t say 100% video is fake, these factors are enough to make us believe it is not authentic.”

Egypt's civil aviation ministry said on Tuesday there were no facts to substantiate assertions by Russian officials that the Russian airliner that crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on Saturday broke up in mid-air. We also see that the plane was still intact in the video.

All this seems to somewhat add plausibility on what we presumed on October 31 “ISIS Amaq agency claimed that ISIS downed the Russian airliner and produced two videos that show footage of a downed civilian aircraft”:

While no one has verified the source of the video, especially that on October 31, we proved there were contradictions in the initial report showing that someone is lying:

So which source do we believe in this case: the media or ISIS? Well, Fox news reveals that the official news is mired in contradictions:

Ayman al-Muqadem, an Egyptian official with the government’s Aviation Incidents Committee, said the plane's pilot, before losing contact, had radioed that the aircraft was experiencing technical problems and that he intended to try and land at the nearest airport. The aircraft crashed at a site near the el-Arish airport, he said.

Fox then says: “It was not immediately possible to independently confirm that technical problems caused the plane to crash.” And then a complete contradiction:

Earlier, al-Muqadem told local media that the plane had briefly lost contact but was safely in Turkish airspace.

The initial reported news as it seems was false. To add more doubt Russia’s transport minister claimed that MANPAD stinger missiles are not within range to bring down an airliner that was flying at 31000 feet since MANPADS have maximum reach of 15000 feet.

The main argument used against a missile is that “ISIS has deployed shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles in the past but they are not known to possess weapons that could bring down an airliner flying at high altitude.” However, the surprise comes when we find that SA-8 GECKO (9K33 Osa) was part of Libya’s stockpiles and these were used to down a cargo plane around Damascus by Syrian rebels last year which is highly mobile and has the range of 40,000 feet, well within distance of the reported height (36,000 ft).

Libya is next door to Egypt. “Libya possesses one of the most robust air defense networks on the African continent, falling second only to Egypt in terms of coverage and operational systems.”

And it is not unusual to have these missiles easily transported from Libya to the Sinai as one report reveals:

Egyptian Interior Ministry officials acknowledged on Thursday that they had arrested five small groups of smugglers transporting weapons from Libya, including antiaircraft missile launchers, across Egypt toward its border with Israel, raising new concerns about security in the Sinai Peninsula.

Israeli government officials said as early as July that troves of Libyan antiaircraft missiles, rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons were being smuggled by land across Egypt into the neighboring Gaza Strip, thePalestinian territory that is under the control of the militant group Hamas.

And footage of using such missiles can easily be found from Damascus used by Syrian rebels last year:

Then we have the eyewitness account which do seem to corroborate the ISIS reported footage. Eyewitnesses reported one engine on fire as it went down, according to a report in Masry Al-Youm, an Egyptian newspaper. A website called Flightradar24, which tracks air traffic around the globe, said the plane had been descending at a rate of 6,000 feet per minute just before it disappeared from radar.

Whether or not the video is old footage or staged productions has not been ruled out but heat seeking missiles usually hit one engine which leaves only 30% chance of landing safely. No agency has proved the footage to being fabricated and ISIS does infest the Sinai which makes their report plausible, especially when we see the official reporting contradictory including the claims that terrorists only have simple low range stingers is no longer the case as evidence reveals.

But the problem in the West is not Islam, nor is it Muslims. The beauties of the Faith are so great that they will take one's mind to ecstasy, just by contemplating on all of the wonders of the flower of Christendom. The flower of Christ's empire sails passed the autumn winds, and lands on the seas; the waters ripple and rage, the waves split open and the anger roars, buts the pedals of this illustrious bloom emanate an aroma that makes the waters sweet. Bitterness dies, and the sweet smell and the pleasant sight of this flower gracefully floating above the most malicious waves, is the image of order; it brings illumination to those who hate chaos, and it provokes viciousness from those who love death and destruction. This is the state of Christendom when she has faith in Christ. When the flower of Christendom cleaves unto the Holy Cross, this is when she receives the sweetness of peace, "Not as the world gives do I give to you." (John 14:27) For when Moses cleaved unto God and cried for His help, the Lord of Heaven showed him a holy tree, and from this sacred wood, "the waters were made sweet" (Exodus 15:25). And so when Christendom accepts the Holy Cross, she too will have its sweetness.

Peter stood upon the waters, for in that moment he had faith. When the waters roared and raged, and its waves arose aloft, this flower of the Faith was afraid, and he sunk. The beautiful pedals that so embellished the waters was now overpowered. But as soon as he cried, "Lord, save me", the Holy One embraced him, and the flower of Christendom now hovered above the waters. The state of Christendom is that it is now under the waters, drowning, and it is about to die. The abysmal spirits crawl all over her, possessing people and pushing them to grab ahold of the flower and keep under the water.

The toleration for homosexuality is one of the most frequent ideas of the demons, and it is almost ubiquitous in how much it has been embraced. Homosexuality and all of the perversities that have been praised and put above matrimony, develops a society where the demons thrive. The Italian exorcist, Gabrielle Amorth, wrote:

"In the current environment, where we are witnessing the collapse of the family, I have encountered many cases of possessed people who, in addition to other sins, were living in irregular marriages. I have dealt many times with women whose sins included the crime of abortion. I have been confronted with numerous people who, in addition to sexual aberrations, committed other violent actions. Many times I have been faced with homosexuals who were drugs addicts and who had committed drug-related sins." (Amorth, An Exorcist Tells His Story, p. 59)

Why do all of these homosexuals get caught up in drug addictions and chaotic and violent behavior? Because they are slaves to the father of chaos — Satan, and have no connection with the Father of Harmony. They are on the side of the Antichrist, and worship the devil.

A homosexual man in Sweden murdered his homosexual “partner,” by slitting his throat. He then drunk his blood and then made a painting on the wall of a pentagram with the blood. According to one report:

These sodomites are truly satanic, they are possessed by the spirits of the abyss and to use the words of St. Paul, “deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1:31) The Holy Faith, by the revelations of both the Old and New Testaments, declare the sodomite as worthy of death. The holy armies of Joshua slaughtered the wicked race of the Canaanites in a divinely commissioned crusade not just against idolatry and human sacrifice, but against homosexuality. In the holy law given to Moses by the Hand of God it reads, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22) And in the end of this same chapter of Leviticus God says, “all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled” (Leviticus 18:27). This verse is specifically speaking of the native peoples of Canaan — the Canaanites, and thus this verse signifies that this people were riddled with homosexuality.

Battle of Jericho

The holy Law, given to us from Heaven, written down by the finger of God on sacred stone, upon the majestic mountain where the Lord spake unto Moses with Whom the Lord spoke "face to face as a man speaketh unto his friend" and to whom God said "I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts" (Exodus 33:11, 23) — who are we to belittle such a prophet? who are we to mock and disregard the laws given to this ascetic warrior who denied the entire ego, emptied himself, humbled his heart and purified his mind and became one with God? In this same chapter of Exodus — which is amongst the most mystical texts of the Scriptures — God tells Moses, "I will drive out the Canaanite" (Exodus 33:2). And God did drive them out, though the hands of holy warriors. God destroyed evil by uniting with the righteous; by bringing his presence to them; by being in them and them in Him; by uniting them with Love Who is God.

Read the words of the Torah and the prophets — what love there is between God and Man; what harmony there is between God and man in the cosmic war against evil; what signs! what foretelling events that foreshadow God becoming one with Man and bringing humanity into the knowledge of the heavenly wisdom as He destroyed the devil in death, by being Life and crushing death in the holy tomb in which Eternal Life conquered. What beauty! what sacrifice! What a sublime beauty that permeates every area of human existence!

God is everywhere; He is in the mountains, in the rivers, in the cosmos, in the stars and in every hill; He is in the grass and in the trees. We look to nature, and see eternity. As the monk, Maximos of Mount Athos, said, "all of reality is permeated with God." (Kyriacos C. Markides, The Mountain of Silence, ch. 5, p. 63) All of the universe revolves around the Divine Icon of the Father — that is the Christ —; He is the center of all the universe, and the center of all mortals, and by Him humanity unites with God, and all of creation awaits for the appearance of holy men. "For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God." (Romans 8:19)

All of nature is centered around God; it was created for and through God, and it lies in God. All of nature is sustained by and within God, and it lies within a harmony. When the energies of humanity harmonizes with the omnipresent energies of God, hearts are enflamed with the fires of compassion and zeal; there is order, there is symmetry, there is love — the purest love, for God is Love. This was the original state of humanity and the original plan of God for us poor mortals, before we cast ourselves into the diabolical maze of confusion. As the monk Maximos of Mount Athos beautifully said:

"there was a time when the first humans lived in full accordance to their true nature. In such a state all their energy, all their powers, were totally harmonized and focused around one motion, the motion toward God. Their nous, that is their heart and mind, had but a single and exclusive preoccupation, ceaseless prayer. At that state their sole experience and focus was what the elders call the Theoria, that is, the vision of God." (Kyriacos C. Markides, The Mountain of Silence, ch. 9, p. 120)

But once humans disconnect themselves from God and choose disorder, then there is chaos, there is disarray, there is violence and cruelty, there is horror. As the Serbian monastic, Elder Thaddeus, said:

"Because of the Fall of man, the natural order of things has become chaotic. In nature, there is an order for all things, but with man there is chaos. Everything is distorted and turned around. Because of our disobedience to the commandments of our Heavenly Father, we have lost the natural order." (Elder Thaddeus, Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives, ch. 2, p. 85)

So many today, fattened by materialism and lost in their own ego, want nothing to do with the holy words of the prophet Moses, nor any of the prophets after him, nor the words of the Apostle who declared that sodomites are worthy of death, but continuously want to teach the precepts of a vain secular moralism. I am not speaking of the atheist who denies everything holy and whose blasphemies are expected; I am speaking of supposed "Christians" who carry the title of conservative and who tout themselves as advocates for family values, while at the same time exert themselves to please the sodomites and the acolytes of perversion as they try to censure those who honor the laws of God.

I myself have dealt with this numerous times. I remember when I posted my video of me calling thirteen pro-homosexual and homosexual bakeries and asking them for a cake that says "Gay marriage is wrong," and being denied service every time. The video went viral. Not too long after this happened, Janet Porter a well known conservative personality who I respect, contacted me asking if I would allow her to use clips of my video to add to her documentary exposing the homosexual agenda. I said it would be no problem. The documentary has been out for some time and has already had showings in select theaters in the United States.

But then, the spirit of fear crept its way inside. Peter LaBarbera, an Evangelical who is in the documentary, was confronted by the leftist media on the fact he is in the same documentary with me, the man who believes in God's law that says that sodomites are to be put to death. Instead of defending the law of the Bible, which he claims to believe, this hireling decided to push for me to recant my statements, and said that if I didn't that I should be removed from the documentary. Janet called me urging me to make a statement to "clarify" what I really believed, that I really don't believe in the death penalty for sodomites, but simply in the anti-sodomy laws that were once enacted in Texas.

To be honest I was quite hesitant to do this because to do so would mean recanting all of my writings in support for the death penalty. Janet sent me the first draft of the statement to receive my stamp of approval. The draft stated:

"While I have had homosexual activists call for my death and beheading, etc., I have not called for anyone to take the life of those practicing homosexual behavior. I do want the laws of the United States to once again make sodomy illegal as they did prior to the 2003 Lawrence v. Texas ruling because such practice is not only immoral, but physically dangerous, as well."

But Peter LaBarbera objected to the draft and expressed his dissatisfaction with it, pushing for me to recant my position that an inquisition should be established to uproot homosexuality and other perversities. Peter LaBarbera responded to the draft with this email to Janet:

"Not good enough, if he called for an “Inquisition” against homosexuals. We need to look at the exact comments and craft a statement based on those. I do not have time to do that today or tomorrow as I’m driving to DC. We need transcripts of the exact comments and then he needs to disavow that approach (or clarify what he meant). Otherwise people will keep asking about those specific comments."

Peter Labarbera, more afraid of the sodomites than the law of God

All of these words are filled with fear. LaBarbera is afraid of negative attention from the leftist media. Such behavior is contrary to God, Who is Love, "because perfect love expels all fear." (1 John 4:18) Why should a Christian be afraid or ashamed of the law of God which states that "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death" (Leviticus 20:13)? Why should a Christian be ashamed of the words of the Apostle when he said that homosexuals do things that "are worthy of death" (Romans 1:32)? They will say that such words are against love. But how could a Christian use such argumentation when St. Paul himself says that "the purpose of the commandment is love" (1 Timothy 1:5), and in the same epistle goes on to say that "we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites" (1 Timothy 1:8-10)?

In Christianity, love and justice and indistinguishable, for all virtues, be it justice, charity or endurance, are in love, for God is Love, and in God is all virtue. So how could such Christians say that I am against love, when the purpose of the law is love, and this very law declares that sodomites are worthy of death?

Peter LaBarbera was blocked from entering Canada, and he goes before the media showing how persecuted he is, but yet he wants to block me — a Christian — from being in a documentary for being more politically incorrect than him. And at the same time, he kisses the feet of the sodomite to deny me as Peter denied Christ. A filthy sodomite who calls himself "Joe My God", began to attack LaBarbera for being in the documentary with me. Peter LaBarbera quickly went on Twitter to appease the sodomite, even going to far as to address him with the blasphemous title of "Joe My God":

Why would a Christian address an evil person with such a blasphemous title as “Joe My God”? It is truly pathetic how these modern Christians get on their hands and knees for these useless sodomites. The sodomites make up such a small part of the population, and yet the Christians, who are supposedly the majority, are terrified of them. Caesar wanted the whole world to address him as kyrios, or lord. And yet you never see any of the early Christians ever address Caesar as kyrios. In fact, St. Paul went directly against this idea when he said “that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:11), that is that Christ is Kyrios. Yet this Peter LaBarbera wants to do an inquisition on me, firmly saying “We need to look at the exact comments” and “We need transcripts of the exact comments and then he [Theodore Shoebat] needs to disavow that approach”, while at the same time he runs to some sodomite to get his approval. What an absolutely pathetic person. Peter LaBarbera does not want to respect God, but rather “Joe My God”.

This is why the Christians keep losing ground and the sodomites keep gaining ground. Instead of using the attention that controversy brings, Christians run away from controversy. This is why Christendom is drowning.

The pedal of Christendom, beneath the dreary waters and suffocating, must look up to the rays of the sun that beam through the waves, and be inspired by the light of hope, and being invigorated, rise above and stand upon the oceans of the world.

A drug cartel in Michoacan, Mexico, murdered two Christians and burned their bodies. The two men were part of a major militia Las Autodefensas who are fighting the cartels in the state of Michoacan. According to a report:

The bodies of two men were found inside a truck in an area of the municipality of Aguililla in the early morning on Monday.

As it has been made known, the bodies correspond to members of autodefensas operating in the area. They were identified as Sacramento Mendoza, 59 and David Zapién, 40. Both were residents of the city who left the day before to take care of their cattle, but never returned to their homes. Noventa Grados is reporting that David Zapién was the leader of the autodefensas of Aguililla while Mendoza was the second in command.

It was on Sunday afternoon when residents alerted authorities about a truck that was abandoned and burned on the highway leading to the community of El Potrero.

However, it wasn't until this morning when the finding of the unit and the two bodies were found. According to residents, the bodies belonged to the same autodefensas who were reported as missing the day before.

According to Mi Morelia, the bodies were riddled with bullets. Several shell casings belonging to an AK-47, AR-15, and a 9mm pistol were found.

So far, investigations will continue to determine the motive.

The truck in which they were murdered and burned

These two men are martyrs; and martyrs are not dead, but they know more about life than we who are on earth do. Divinity is not found in prestige; it is not found in gluttonous popularity — no. Divinity is found where we least expect it. In the soul of the saint is found a world more profound than the universe; in the heart lies the house of God, and from it emanates the song of grace which purifies the mind and ascends one to the wisdom of the limitless sky. In the soul of the warrior is infinity, where death is not and life is the center of humanity in the solar system of the inner man, that is, Jesus Christ, around Whom all of the cosmos revolve. Divinity is found where you least expect to find it. In the soul of the lowliest ascetic, who has nothing, there lies everything, there is divinity. In the heart of the warrior, there is God; for blessed are the peacemakers, and in the combatant who strives to advance peace, there is divinity. Enter the Cross and you will sail into infinity, enter sacrifice, and you will see be adored with life.

The major drug cartel in Mexico, the Templars (Los Templarios), have been kidnapping children, ripping their hearts as they are still alive, and eating them raw. Alfredo Castillo, the federal government’s envoy to Michoacan, told a local radio:

At [an] initiation ceremony they used the organs, in this case the heart, and forced people going through this initiatory process to eat it

This ritual is superintended by Nazario Moreno, the leader of the Templarios, who makes his initiates consume the hearts of kidnapped children. Mr. Castillo continued to say:

There are statements from some people who were present when Nazario Moreno (El Chayo) came and told others, either as initiation or as part of a ritual: ‘Today we are going to eat a person’s heart

Nazario Moreno is a cult leader, and is believed by his followers to have special powers.

According to Mexican authorities the children are then further dissected for their organs which are sold in the underground (and underworld) black market. Several children were captured by the Templar cult gang and locked in a freezer in a van, being prepared to be sacrifices for upcoming rituals for future initiates. A local Christian militia in Mexico, tired of the government not doing anything, took up arms, attacked the devil worshippers, intercepted the van and rescued the children before they could be ritually sacrificed in the satanic ritual. The leader of the Christian militia, José Manuel Mireles, said:

They were inside a refrigerated box, tightly wrapped in blankets… They were all children from the same Mexico City school.

Two major drug cartel agents, Caballo and Chanenque, were ambushing innocent travelers and dismembering them. Jose Manuel Mireles, the leader of the militia, captured both Caballo and Chanenque. His men beat the two murderers on camera, and then ordered for the filming to stop. We don’t know the fate of the two devil worshippers, but one can imagine that the Christians justly dispatched them.

The Christian militia is called Los Autodefensas, and they began as a response to the horrific and satanic murders done by the drug cartel, and as a result of the utter corruption and evil cooperation the government has with the cartels. The drug cartels, like ISIS, taxes all those who live under their control. A local farmer was unable to pay the extortion tax, and so the cartel kidnapped his children, tied them up and smashed their heads upon rocks. It was against this horrific violence that this militia arose and fought.

Autodefenas forces in Michoacan

The valiant and tenacious Jose Manuel Mireles, alongside the valorous Manuel Mora, helped organize this admirable order of warriors, who fight for the cause of humanity and precious human life. To a crowd Mireles declared:

We've reached the gates of Hell… Now it's time to defend ourselves.

God the ever glorious Son became of one flesh with humanity, and proclaimed to the holy Peter, "That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18) The saints march to the gates of the inferno as it approaches the land of heavenly beings, and they, burning with a zeal only quenched by justice, fight with all noble ferociousness, tearing down its sinister walls and breaking the chains of the abysmal demons.

In their ineffable will and exuberance they strike the sinister forces, the corrupters of souls and the shedders of innocent blood, by "faith working through love." (Galatians 5:6) Is this not a war between those of the flesh and those of the Spirit? The war is not between weapons, but between those led by the Spirit, (Galatians 5:18) and those who advance pharmakeia (Galatians 5:20) to use the word of the Apostle, which is nothing but the occult and the rituals of demons in which narcotics are used.

The Mexican cartels make up to twenty billion dollars a year from selling pharmakeia— in the forms of cocaine and methamphetamine — in the US, and all they are doing is advancing witchcraft. The soulless never end in spewing out their evils, saying that drugs are "harmless," and that they should be tolerated and legalized, and they do not even realize that they are only being ambassadors for doctrines of demons and their acolytes who only come to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (John 10:10).

These militants do not fund their cause with drugs or with the blood of the innocent, but with money gained by the sale of limes and avocados. In one event — worthy of our lamentation — fourteen lime producers expressed their support for the militia and the Templar drug cartel murdered all of them.

Even with all of the evils that these brave militants are fighting and destroying, the government of Mexico is pushing them to get rid of their guns. Mexican Secretary of Interior Miguel Ángel Osorio Cong affirmed that "they have to leave the job up to the authorities." And also this Judas said:

We have made agreements, and the government needs to continue to preserve the stability and security in Michoacan. [The autodefensas] must disarm and return to their daily activities. Those who are found with illegal weapons will be arrested

The government is suppose to be fighting these cartels and preventing them from killing and massacring people, and these militants are only doing the job that the state is not adequately doing.

Militants, fighting the narcos

The state is doing more against the militia than it is against the cartels and this is only because the government makes a tremendous amount of money from the drugs. Jose Manuel Mireles, the leader of the militia, said:

The government has always asked us to abandon our weapons, and have threatened to disarm us themselves and throw everyone who chooses to stay armed in jail. But let's see what happens, because there are people who truly will not release their arms

Mireles knows that if the militia gives up their weapons that this will only empower the cartels. In a 2013 interview, Mireles said that under the reign of the narcos, "We used to have seven or eight executions every week," but that with the militia, "For eight months now, we've had no murders, no extortions, no rapes, no turf taxes, nothing".

This proves that the drug cartel can be easily destroyed; the Mexican government doesn't want to destroy it. The only reason why the Mexican government wants to get rid of the militias is because they are a hinderance to their pay.

While the former president of Felipe Calderon was trying to fight the drug cartels, he was impeded by his own government, since 50% of his administration was getting pay cuts from the drug dealers. So now the militia has no choice but to tell the government the words of St. Peter, We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29) For truly, to fight against the advancers of Satan is a duty for every Christian, and so great is this obligation that any state who tries to impede it must be resisted. When the militias first began they set up sand bags and established check points, and presented banners that read that the cartel would "face the armed wrath of residents if they entered city limits."

They do not want power or drugs, they want justice. Mireles stated:

It is a legitimate and legal movement… We are not criminals. What we need is justice. We need to restore the rule of law to Michoacan.

Militant

Mireles lived for ten years in California and returned to work in the militia. Initially he and the militia held friendly relations with the government as it saw the Autodefensas as an ally against the Templar cartel. Mireles suffered in a plane crash and was rescued by the Federal Police and transported to Mexico City for hospitalization. After he left the city and returned to Michoacan his relation with the state began to weaken because the militia objected to the state's incompetence in fighting the Templars.

The militia is also led by Hipólito Mora Chávez. Such sacrifice this man has shown, that even after the cartel murdered his son, he still combats the demonic narco terrorists.

The Templars were slaughtering people as though they were animals; they cut people to pieces and beheaded; they burn people alive and rape women as young as 9, 11 or 12. The militants declared that it was time to take matters into their own hands, to carry up their crosses, and fight the satanist narcos. The entire government in Michoacan is controlled by the cartel, and many politicians who receive money from the selling of drugs wanted to hinder the militia. The militants exclaimed to the government that they are never going to give up their weapons. Here is a great video on the militia with English subtitles explaining their situation:

Mireles remembers the horrors that his town had to experience. More than 250 families from his town were massacred; they were all tied up and they were dismembered. After recounting this story, Mireles nobly said:

If we know we are going to die, we wanted the to choose the way to do it, and it was to fight.

Christians in the areas of Tepalcatepec, la Ruana, Buenavista, Aquilialla, Coalcoman, Aquila, Chinicuila, Los Reyes, and Apatzingan, declared:

If they are going to kill us tied, they better kill us fighting back

But, the war for righteousness is never without opposition done by Satan and his slaves. Last year the militia's founder, Mireles, was arrested and put into prison for owning "unauthorized" weapons. He was suppose to be released this year, but the enemies of God preclude him from his release.

Now with Mireles in prison, and numerous militia leaders in hiding, the strength of the Autodefensas seems to be weakening, as the Templar drug cartel is reinvigorating itself against these modern day Cristero warriors. In a recent video that Mireles did from prison, he said:

I am watching with great sadness that in every town where we got up in arms, citizens are once again riddled with organized crime, all of the general coordinators of the autodefensas are being killed

They say that the Autodefensas are weakening, or that they are crumbling — ah but such is the life of the saints. We must have hope, for the resistance of the Church Militant will never die! The life of the saint is never the soft path of convenience, but the rugged trail of trials and tests, walking through the tough terrain of holy battle, with shield in hand to fend off the arrows of the devil, with sword in hand to strike off the approaching enemy.

Above the head of the saint is the Sword of Truth, to his left and his right are the enemies of Heaven, and behind him are his sins from which he strives to do away with. Rise above the capricious waters of the masses, and ascend Mount Golgotha, and see the world through the Cross, and all that shall be seen will be victory.

Read the most beautiful and sublime words of the holy Apostle, when he wrote, "I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:8) What inspiration! What beauty! That this monastic longed after his brethren while he was in union with Christ, going so far in the eternal eye of the mind as to say that he was in the very bowels of Christ. Truly these are awe inspiring words! Truly are these the verses of the Church Militant, who in battle longs for her Christian brethren, with faith working through love (Galatians 5:6); with zeal working through the inspiration of the spirit that is sparked from the flames of ever flowing compassion for humanity.

Autodefensas in Michoacan

Ah! How can one not see that the Church Militant is still in Mexico — from the time when the Conquistadors crushed the infernal religion of the Aztecs, to the Cristeros who battled against the antichrist communists, to the Autodefensas who are warring against the pagan cult of the drug cartel, with their hatred for God and thirst for human blood — the Church Militant assails the bastions of the abysmal spirits, and will always be here.

In the Battle of Gibeah, when the Israelites fought the sons of Belial — the Benjaminites —, the enemy slaughtered twenty two thousand Israelites on the first day of the fight. In the second day the enemy slaughtered eighteen thousand of the Israelites. One could have thought, 'The forces of Israel are crumbling, they are losing, they have reached their conclusion!' But no; for the soldiers of God's army persevered, and "the Lord smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men" (Judges 20:35)

The Lord allows defeats to happen in the beginning, just as He allowed Job to suffer before his victory over Satan. There is a bittersweet beauty to this. As the seed dies before the plant sprouts; as the bulb must form before it blooms; as winter must come before spring; pain before birth; so the saint must suffer before resurrection. Christ suffered on the Cross and showed us the conquest of death. And so in showing us the most blissful victory, the strength of Christ enters the hearts of the warrior saints as they look before death and laugh, and drink death's anguish as though it were water, before peace is made through the defeat of the wicked.

Autodefensas

St. Paul said, "Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." (Philippians 1:20) In the striving, the passion, and the battles of the saints, we see Christ. In the warrior we see Christ; in the martyr we see Christ; in the battlefield we see Christ; in all things where the Cross is lifted, where holy blood is shed for the holy cause of humanity, where saintly death is endured, there is Christ, showing Himself in these warring temples of the mortal race; there are the saints of Heaven, looking down upon their brethren, there is the heavenly Mount Zion, where Justice and Peace are seen Incarnate, in the Crucified King Who rules the cosmos.

Autodefensas

In the warrior one's eyes gaze upon Christ, for where there is sacrifice, there is the Cross, wherever the Cross is, there too is Christ; and wherever the Cross is seen, there is seen the Church. Where the martyr's blood is spilt, there is the Church, where the battle is being done, there is the Church; wherever there is righteous war, there is the Church; in the battlefield there is the Church.

Do not think for a second that these warehouses that we call churches, where ears are tickled and a fat, gluttonous, sugar-coated teaching saturates the soul, are actually churches. The Church can only be where sacrifice is; for the Church was founded upon the greatest Sacrifice, and in emulation do the saints follow through, glowing in the luster of the holy death of Christ, and illuminating to the whole world the fiery flame of selfless love.

On His wounds are seen victory; on the scars upon His divine head is seen the crown of His cosmic reign over all the world; in the wound on His side, pierced by the arrow of a sheep that was brought back to his shepherd, one sees the ineffable love that is so transcendent and so powerful, in the One Who is Love. One sees the Body of Love, through Whom and for Whom we are all created; through Whom and for Whom the saints die so that the King of Love can be seen in their love for humanity, the same humanity that was united with Love on the Cross.

There is a priest who is supporting the cause against the drug cartels, named Fr. Gregorio Lopez Geronimo. He exhorts his flock to "leave off fear for the devil” and fight the cartels. Lopez condemned the Merida Initiative, which was a program through which the US began funneling weapons into Mexico to supposedly supply the Mexican military to fight the cartels. Expectedly, the weapons fell into the hands of the cartels. Fr. Gregorio said:

We’re being governed by organized crime… We're demanding a halt to the flow of firearms that arrive in Mexico as part of the Merida plan… These weapons made in the U.S. are falling into the hands of not only the army but also the criminal groups

Fr. Gregorio walks with a bullet proof vest, knowing that the successors of Cain — who shed human blood to corrupt the sacrifice — are all about, waiting for the right moment to kill this successor Abel, who abides by the correct sacrifice. As Christ took up a whip to compel the corrupt to leave the Temple, so Fr. Gregorio gave cudgels to 1000 Christians, and declared that if the Federal Police does not arrest the gangsters that he would rouse up these men to strike the corrupt officers and bind them with rope.

The cause of the militants is not to war against flesh and blood, but to fight for the establishment of justice.

The Christian warrior does not fight for the cause of weapons, or for bloodshed, but simply put, his hands and his weapons are a means to an end, and that end is justice. The Christian knight is guided not by his own volition, but by God, Who uses Him for the advancement of His justice. The Christian warrior fights for the Church, for in the Church there is civilization and justice, and all those who go against her, are for chaos and tyranny. The Spanish knight, Ramon Lull, wrote:

It is the office of the knight to uphold and defend the Holy Catholic Faith, for which God the Father sent his Son to become flesh in the glorious Virgin, our Lady Saint Mary, and for honouring and preaching the faith he suffered many travails and many wrongs in this world and a cruel death. (1)

Lull also wrote that "knights exist in order to persecute and destroy evil," (2) not for the love of tyranny or the lust for human blood. This is the way of the saintly warrior, this is the way of Christ.

One can never fully understand the violence of the drug cartel, nor the fight between the Christians and the cartel, until one understands the war between Spanish Catholics and the pagan Indians. The violence and massacres of the drug cartel is not some sudden occurrence, but a continuation of the war that has been going since the feet of armored and resilient Spanish men stepped upon the coast of Veracruz. The name, Veracruz, means True Cross, and surely it is of the highest truth that the Cross conquered Mexico by destroying its paganism and advancing the light of the Gospel to the nation. When Cortez and the Conquistadors met with Montezuma, the emperor of the Aztecs, they preached to him the Gospel, as we read from Bernal Diaz (a Conquistador who fought under Cortez):

We had then told him that we were Christians and worshipped one God alone, named Jesus Christ, who had suffered His passion and death to save us; and that what they worshipped as gods were not gods but devils, which were evil things, and if they were ugly to look at, their deeds were uglier. (3)

The meeting between Cortez and Montezuma

When the Conquistadors approached the Indians of Potonchan, Cortez, in the words of his secretary, Francisco Lopez de Gomara, "told them of a single God, Creator of Heaven and earth and all men, whom the Christians worshipped and served, and whom all men should worship and serve. In short, after he had explained the Mysteries to them, and how the Son of God had suffered on the Cross, they accepted it and broke up their idols." (4)

Cortez told the Cholulan Indians to destroy their idols, and affirmed to them that if they refused to do so, "we would do it for them." (5)

What beauty, what glory, what triumph, did the Cross illuminate through the warriors of Spain, where the blood of martyrs lie and where their strength is shown in the heroes of its history! How they exemplified the might of God by destroying the idols of pagans and the temples of demons, and illustrated the triumph of orthodoxy. For the religion of the heathens was just as demonic as that of the Canaanites, and like Joshua, the Conquistadors obliterated their satanic idolatry.

Bernal Diaz, in his own words, saw a "small tower which was also an idol-house or true hell, for one of its doors was in the shape of a terrible mouth, such as they paint to depict the jaws of hell. This mouth was open and contained great fangs to devour souls. Besides this door were groups of devils and the shapes of serpents, and a little way off was a place of sacrifice, all blood-stained and black with smoke. There were many great pots and jars and pitchers in this house, full of water. For it was here that they cooked the flesh of the wretched indians who were sacrificed and eaten by the papas [priests]. Near this place of sacrifice there were many large knives and chopping-blocks like those on which men cut up meat in slaughterhouses". (6)

In one pagan conflict in Mexico, the Indians took a man named Chihuaquequenotzin, murdered him with stones, consumed his flesh, and made a neckless out of his fingernails. (7)

It was this wickedness and deranged cruelty that the Spaniards fought against. One of the most beautiful stories that I have heard, and the most valorous story in Christian history, was when the Conquistadors fought the pagans on the steps of the great temple-tower in the city of Mexico. Thousands upon thousands attacked the small group of Spanish warriors. The Christians ran up the steps of the temple, and upon this tower of Babel, they fought with the most graphic of intensity; everywhere one looked, his fellow man was covered in blood, their hearts were beating as fast as the drums the Indians beat upon.

Every strike was explosive, every movement was done upon the thin string above life or death; every thought was heatedly focused on either life or death, every soul contemplated the giving of self, every fighter for God offered himself as a sacrifice for the destruction of evil, emulating the Crucified King when He came to destroy the works of the devil.

There an Indian struck a Christian to his death; there another saint dies like his Lord; and one could turn to only witness another martyr, killed under the hands of the heathen, and liberated through the Cross of Love. They continued to ascend the steps, with sharp blades cutting flesh asunder; with the voices of holy combatants being heard as high as Heaven; with spirit being split from soul; with timeless courage piercing through temporal existence, and transcending finite life through love that has neither beginning nor end, manifesting itself through zeal and sacrificial battle in the cosmic fray for humanity's redemption.

Time transpired, and yet eternity was present, being seen in the everlasting love of striving soldiers, who fought on, regardless of travails, regardless of pains. Let your eyes gaze upon the soldier who fights for God, and in his actions will you see eternity. Look upon the crusader, and in Him will you see Christ. Eternity can only be seen in sacrifice; selfishness is ego, finite and transient, but sacrifice is love, and love knows nothing of earthly bounds.

St. John said, "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8) Christ died for us, so that we — through His death — may have enlightenment on life; that true life is to be aware of holiness and evil, to embrace the former and fight the latter. Christ allowed Himself to be be killed by evil, so that we could fight evil. One must understand the theology of Theosis, or the union between God and man, to understand this. St. Paul said, "I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:8)

Paul was one with Christ, and being in Him, he participated in the work of Christ through His Church. St. Paul also said, "there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). Notice that he refers to Christ as the man, while being the mediator between God and men. God became Man, and thus the God-Man mediates between mankind and Divinity through the bridge of His Humanity.

As Christ is the mediator, He is still Man, and thus mortals can participate in the mediation of Christ, and therefore partake in His works in humanity. Christ destroys the works of the devil, through His human Church. And so, when the Indians murdered each other and ate human flesh, they participated in the works of the devil.

The Conquistadors, on the other hand, participated in the mediation of Christ by destroying the works of the devil and obliterating the heathen religion. When the Spaniards were fighting the Indians on the steps of the pyramid, they sprinted all the way to the top, where they entered the temple. These present day saints are modern day Conquistadors, and like their predecessors, they fight the establishments of paganism and killing and defeating these acolytes of pharmakeia and occultism. What you are seeing in the works and striving of these militants, is not just self-defense, but the continuation of the war commenced by the Conquistadors; it is a war against paganism, it is the reconquest of Mexico. Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation(Mashav), has alumni who have risen to high positions in their home countries, but according to President Reuven Rivlin, none has returned to Israel until now as the head of his or her country.

The exception is Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández, who, accompanied by several of his country's ministers, called on Rivlin at the latter's official residence on Thursday.

Hernandez won a scholarship in the early 1990s to attend a Mashav young leadership program, which has obviously paid off.

In the course of his visit with Rivlin, a development cooperation agreement on agriculture; water management and conservation; training; and capacity building was signed by Arturo Corrales Alvarez, the Honduras secretary of foreign affairs and international cooperation, and ambassador Gil Haskel, deputy director-general at the Foreign Ministry and head of Mashav.

Another cooperation agreement was reached between Hernandez and Rivlin on the basis of trust, without any documentation or signatures. Each agreed to speak out on behalf of the other's country in all international forums, and particularly when speaking to members of the US Congress.

Hernandez said that he hoped that other young people from his country would be able to benefit from the Mashav leadership course, just as he did.

He also spoke of the 15 years of violence that his country has been subjected to by drug traffickers, resulting in the deaths of more than 30,000 people.

Rivlin's response was that terrorism is terrorism – whether it be the outcome of fundamentalism or drug trafficking.

Rivlin noted that the defense establishments of both countries are in close and constant contact.

Hernandez said that in addition to learning more about security from Israel, Honduras is interested in benefiting from Israeli expertise in water management and conservation, so as to be able to produce more crops both for domestic use and export.

President Xi Jinping and his French counterpart Francois Hollande issued a joint statement on climate change in Beijing on Monday, vowing to promote a working program to accelerate pre-2020 efforts in mitigation, adaptation and support during the Paris climate summit.

They called for a better transparency system to build trust and confidence in the Paris pact, as well as means to review the actions and support of various parties.

France will host the climate summit in Paris (COP21) in December, which is largely expected to result in a global and binding agreement on addressing climate change.

Hollande is visiting China ahead of the summit to seek China’s support for a new climate change deal in Paris.

The two presidents reaffirmed joint efforts to push forward an ambitious and “legally binding” Paris agreement on the basis of equity and the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities.

“The agreement must send out a clear signal for the world to transition to green, low-carbon, climate-resilient and sustainable development,” said the statement.

They stressed that developed countries should continue to offer enhanced financial, technological and capacity-building support to developing countries in the post-2020 period.

Xi and Hollande also pledged stronger cooperation in countering climate change in areas such as low-carbon transportation, renewable energy, and carbon capture and storage technologies.

“China is committed to ensuring the success of the climate conference,” Xi told Hollande in their talks on Monday afternoon.

Xi said China supported France as the host of the conference, voicing confidence that it would successfully play its role as a coordinator to facilitate a balanced and comprehensive result.

“I’m confident for the progress of the conference. Our statement has injected positive energy to the multilateral process of addressing climate change,” Xi told a press briefing after the talks.

China has made multiple climate pledges. These include a decision to launch a national carbon cap-and-trade system in 2017 to help contain emissions, establishing a 20-billion-yuan (3.1-billion-U.S.-dollar) fund to help other developing countries combat and adapt to climate change, and cutting carbon dioxide emissions per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) by 60 percent to 65 percent from the 2005 level by 2030.

“The French president’s China trip is part of his climate change diplomacy which aims to regain Europe’s leading role in addressing climate change after the unprosperous Copenhagen conference,” said Cui Hongjian, a specialist in China-Europe relations at the China Institute of International Studies.

During their talks, Hollande told Xi he is visiting China hoping to further the all-round strategic partnership with China.

The two countries share similar views on many global affairs, and maintain political trust and dialogue, he said.

Xi proposed both countries boost major cooperation projects in nuclear power and aeroplane manufacturing, increase cultural exchanges and jointly promote the building of new international relations.

The Chinese president welcomed France to participate in the Belt and Road initiative.

The two presidents witnessed the signing of 17 cooperation documents later on Monday, ranging from trade, finance, energy to environmental protection and cultural exchange.

That British link plays a crucial part in Myanmar's future because its constitution bars anyone with foreign family ties from becoming president. It means that even if the NLD wins at the polls, Ms Suu Kyi cannot hold the highest office.

On paper, these will be the freest­ and fairest polls Myanmar has seen since the NLD won a landslide victory in 1990, later annulle­d by the generals.

Season 4 | Episode 4 | "Your Day is Coming" | Aired Nov 3, 2015

Welfare check, anyone? A group hug, at least? That was a rough hour of Chicago Fire, is all I’m saying.

Dawson’s life hanging in the balance tests the strength of the entire house. Even though Captain Patterson is impressed with how 51 comes together, those of us familiar with Chicago Fire aren’t surprised at all. We already know that when there’s a crisis, you call Firehouse 51. And that’s not just because they’re “trained” or “heroic” or “really, really good looking,” it’s because 51 is full of heart and loyal to a fault. Trust me, you want them in your corner—or in your hospital waiting room.

Dawson’s rushed to Chicago Med and Dr. Brother Halstead immediately makes a bad day worse by informing the parents-to-be that Dawson has an ectopic pregnancy (the fetus is implanted outside the uterus—I’m learning so much!), and she’s bleeding into her abdomen. Translated: Dawson and her baby are in trouble.

Dr. Brother Halstead stops the bleed, but can’t save the baby. There was nothing he could do; the pregnancy was never viable. Casey’s heartbreak is evident, and he has to muster up all the strength he can once Dawson wakes up from surgery. He gives Dawson the bad news, but it barely registers with her. It’s very unsettling. If Dawson won’t hold Casey through the pain, who will?! I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE.

Dawson, still not mentioning the pregnancy, has Boden and Brett come in for an awkward visit, and she calmly asks Casey when the doctor will be in to update them on the baby. I’m no doctor-brother, but I’m pretty sure that’s a bad sign. While Casey, Boden, and Brett are trying to figure out what’s wrong with Dawson, she crashes and has to be rushed back into surgery.

All of Firehouse 51 anxiously sit in the waiting room. Dawson pulls through yet again because, hello, she’s Gabriella Dawson. Casey thanks his friends for standing by them, but has them clear out until Dawson’s up for visitors. None of them really know what to say to their hurting friends anyway. None but Herrmann, that is.

Later, Herrmann video chats Casey and Dawson and comforts Dawson by sharing how he and his wife got through losing their first pregnancy. It was hard, but now they have five kids, plus he has another daughter he wasn’t expecting. She’s strong and brave and will be a great mom some day and … OH MY GOD, HE’S TALKING ABOUT DAWSON. Well, now my robot heart is sparking because I got tears all over it.

After that cry fest, Dawson thinks it might be the perfect time to have the “what are we” talk. Smart, girl—he can’t run anywhere now! Dawson knows they got back together because of the pregnancy and that Casey has always wanted kids. Casey shuts her right up and tells her “I want you.” It’s very convincing.

While our firefighters try to get through a shift without crying, Severide takes on Dawson’s arson case. He’s on the hunt for the missing files that would incriminate Maddox in the crack-den fire (among others), and keep Boden out of trouble for bringing the case against the real estate mogul to the press.

After a quick visit to Commander Duffy’s office at Arson Investigation, Severide confronts Jamie. Jamie insists she didn’t steal the files, but recommends running a little computer forensics over at Arson to see if anything peculiar shows up. That’s helpful. Her continuing to hit on Kelly? Not so much.

Chicago P.D.‘s Mouse (Samuel Hunt) takes a break from Intelligence to lend a tech-savvy hand. Looking at the evidence, Mouse thinks this was an inside job. Aside from Dawson, only Duffy and Susie knew about the files. Susie has an alibi, which leaves Severide’s family friend, Commander Duffy. Awkward.

Severide bumps into Duffy at the hospital, and the dude is acting shifty. He knows Duffy must be guilty, but Severide is a gentleman, and he wants to give Duffy a chance to do the right thing. It doesn’t take long. Severide returns to the firehouse to find all of the case files and a Post-it note that simply says, “Kelly, I’m sorry.” Though Kelly’s psyched to have all the evidence they need to put this whole debacle to bed, he is immediately worried about what this means for Duffy’s well-being. He’s right to worry.

Severide and Squad 3 find the guilt-ridden Commander clutching a giant weight, sitting on the edge of a bridge. Severide tries to talk him down, but Duffy jumps. Without thinking, Severide jumps in after his friend. I told you he was a gentleman.

Severide eventually pulls Duffy out of the water, and leaves him to deal with the consequences of his actions. Severide heads back to the firehouse to sulk about the fact that he had to watch a man he once looked up to do some unspeakable things. He’s about to have a good cry in the showers (I imagine), when Kevin, a young boy Severide saved during an earlier call (In short: bouncy houses are the devil), stops by to give Kelly a handmade thank you card. You guys: KELLY TEARS UP. He is moved. Oh, to be that homemade card, hanging in Kelly Severide’s locker!

The Firehouse 51 Bulletin Board:

• The Portland jagheads strike again! Molly’s gets shut down because it’s two feet closer to the curb than legally allowed. Those nerds would bring a ruler to a bar! Jimmy calls in cousin Anthony (possibly my soulmate?) to take a look. He’s in construction, don’t even worry about it. He notices Molly’s is built with Prohibition-era limestone bricks, which gives the bar historical status—it can’t be closed down now!
• Jimmy’s sweet on Chili, and Chili might be sweet on Jimmy. MASH FACES, SOMEONE.
• Ambo has another call detached from every other storyline this week: A man pronounced dead wakes up in the morgue. The gals realize he has a rare heart condition and rig the defibrillator to act as a pacemaker to keep him alive. He’s like a zombie, but way less cool.
• The way Herrmann looks at his wife, though.

This week, in the penultimate episode of My So-Called Life, Danielle, the oft-ignored younger Chase daughter, gets a chance to narrate. Graham and Patty are preparing to go away for a couples’ weekend with Graham’s brother, Neil, and his girlfriend, Marla. Camille is helping Patty pack, and in a valiant best-friend effort to spice up Patty and Graham’s relationship (she’s still concerned about “that Hallie Lowenthal person”) she loans Patty some handcuffs. Scandalized, Patty contemplates them but ultimately ditches them in her bed before Graham can see.

Rickie has been spending a lot of time at Angela’s, which is awkward because Rayanne, who is still his friend, calls and wants to hang out occasionally. While Patty frets over leaving the kids alone for the weekend, Angela tries to reassure Rickie that he’s still allowed to hang out with Rayanne, not missing an opportunity to ask if Rayanne has mentioned her recently. Graham returns home with yet another Hallie Lowenthal story, this time involving car trouble and him literally looking under her hood, and he finally mentions to Patty that Hallie broke up with her fiancé. Patty barely has time to process this unsettling information before Neil shows up—but with some new woman named Cheryl (Laura Innes) instead of Marla.

The four set off on their trip, and Patty and Graham are immediately annoyed by Cheryl’s loud opinions and cackling laugh. Upon arrival at the lodge where they’re staying for the weekend, Patty changes into a negligee Camille packed for her in an attempt to have a romantic moment with Graham. Just as things start to get hot and heavy, they’re interrupted by the loud sounds of Neil and Cheryl having their own romantic moment in the room next door.

Back home, Danielle is loving hanging out with her big sister and her “cool friend” Rickie. Rayanne stops by to see Rickie and receives a downright icy “welcome” from Angela. Alone with Rickie in Patty and Graham’s room, Rayanne casually asks if Angela has asked about her recently. She sits on the bed and stumbles upon the abandoned handcuffs. In typical Rayanne fashion, she dramatically cuffs herself to the bed while Rickie panics. Turns out he had good reason to panic, as they quickly realize the key is nowhere to be found. Uh oh.

Angela quickly discovers what’s going on, and they all try to hide the fact that Graham and Patty apparently own handcuffs from Danielle. “I’ll explain later. Like, when you’re 30,” Angela says. Meanwhile, Patty realizes she left the handcuffs on the bed and calls Camille, asking her to go to the house and take them back so the kids don’t find them. Angela panics when Camille and Sharon stop by, attempting to prevent them from going upstairs. She can only hold them off for so long, but by the time Camille enters the bedroom Rickie, Danielle, and Rayanne have created a decent cover story—Rayanne is faking sick, explaining her presence in the bed, as Danielle and Rickie strategically block the handcuffs from view. Angela is so entertained by the ridiculous sight that she starts cracking up. Somehow, Camille seems to buy it.

Rayanne asks Angela if they can have a moment alone. Angela clearly doesn’t want to talk about what happened, saying nothing can change it. Rayanne didn’t want to talk, though, she just has to pee and wants Angela to bring her a jar. Typical. Sharon suggests they call Brian Krakow, who is smart enough to maybe have a solution to their predicament. Danielle, who still has a megacrush on her next-door neighbor, is thrilled by this turn of events. Brian and Sharon buy a new pair of handcuffs from The Pleasure Center, hoping the key will be the same, but it’s not. In the funniest moment of the episode, Sharon’s on-again/off-again boyfriend Kyle and his friend catch Brian seemingly on top of Rayanne as she yells, “It won’t fit! It’s too big!” regarding the key. To make it seem even kinkier, Rickie, Angela, and Danielle are all in the bedroom watching.

Meanwhile, at the lodge, Graham, Neil, and Cheryl leave Patty alone almost all day as they search for somewhere to buy liquor. By the time dinner rolls around, Patty’s weeks of pent-up frustration manifest as she gets super wasted on brandy, making a huge scene in the lodge’s restaurant. The manager informs them they’re being kicked out come morning, and Neil and Graham have to literally carry Patty up to her room. The next day she is extremely hungover and regretful. She apologizes to Graham and accidentally brings up Hallie, revealing the true cause of her outburst.

Brian takes apart the headboard, which results in the entire bed collapsing with Rayanne still on it. It’s still a success, however, as Rayanne is finally detached from the bed. She attempts to immediately split, which outrages Angela, but when Danielle gets a call that her parents will be home in 20 minutes, the kids all come together to clean up the house and reassemble the bed. Patty and Graham return home to a normal sight of the kids watching TV—normal aside from the handcuffs still attached to Rayanne’s wrist that they are hiding. Danielle watches as Patty unpacks the key, which she had accidentally taken with her on the trip. She surreptitiously passes it off to Angela, who removes the cuffs from Rayanne, saving the day.

Finally alone, Patty and Graham “reconnect,” with the help of the handcuffs. Angela intercepts Rayanne, who was (of course) trying to steal the key. “Weekend from hell,” Angela exclaims. “That was the best weekend of my entire life,” Danielle thinks, delighted.

Best Danielle-ism:“My whole life is waiting for something to happen.”

Tonight’s Finding Carter saw the Wilson family three ways, in a very literal, geographic sense. David is off on his book tour, avoiding Elizabeth’s calls because he went through with standing by Loris’ side during the home visit—and had Carter come with him too, for good measure. That’s not the kind of thing Elizabeth would be happy to hear; instead of lying to her, David seems to have hoped he could just avoid speaking to her until she forgot who Lori was at all.

(The plan didn’t work out, and the beginnings of another Big Ominous State of the Union for the Wilson marriage was hinted at, which, like, ugh. The last thing I need is to watch another season of David and Elizabeth’s failing marriage and rampant denial. Make it work or move on. #sorrynotsorry.)

Carter, Elizabeth, and presumably Grant (although who knows, since he’s barely in the show at all anymore?), were all home, where the trouble that brewed was mostly of the usual sort. Carter found out that Ben was planning to steal from the bar and, even though she didn’t explicitly turn him in, she did alert Jared of the issue and ruin his scheme to steal from the bar patrons by ripping off their credit card information. To get back at Carter for ruining said scheme, Ben casually let it slip to Elizabeth that Carter was working at a bar, and the expected mother-daughter fighting ensued. The fight went something like this:

Elizabeth: I can’t believe I let you drop out of school to get an illegal job in a bar!

Carter: It’s my life. You need to let me live it the way I want to!

Elizabeth: But you LIED to me.

Carter: Only because you’re the kind of mom who I have to lie to, because otherwise you would yell at me for doing things like getting a job at a bar using a fake ID!

It’s the kind of fight that Elizabeth and Carter have had a thousand times before and that they’ll likely continue having the rest of their lives. Even though I think Carter is pretty obviously in the wrong here (yes, of course you have to follow your own path, but when you’re a minor and that path is illegal, maybe you don’t get to follow it just yet), Elizabeth ends up taking the high road and letting Carter keep the job at the bar.

Why?

Because she had a freaking adorable heart-to-heart with Max, that’s why. Max is finishing the basement because Elizabeth weirdly wants a place where her teenage children can hang out with their friends where the parents can’t just walk in on them. It’s counterintuitive to her entire parenting strategy, but it’s an excuse to have Max working in the house and it’ll probably become an apartment for Ben or Max or Gabe or any combination thereof down the line, so let’s go with it. Anyway, Elizabeth is insecure because David is avoiding her and she feels like she’s failing Carter by letting her get away with making so many bad decisions. Max is feeling insecure because he doesn’t know if he’s good enough for Taylor and he’s worried about their relationship when she goes to college. Aside from a split second when I kind of worried Max and Elizabeth were going to have an affair, it was all really sweet and wonderful.

Now, what about that third geographic Wilson family location? Taylor (along with Gabe and Damon) is on a college visit at a school that’s a couple of hours away from the Wilson house. After their tour, Taylor and Gabe are invited to a frat party by their tour guide. Seems fine. After all, this is a college visit; checking out the party scene seems kind of required.

At the party, however, things quickly take a dark, dark, terrible, terrifying turn. Gabe and Taylor both agree not to drink much, but the drink Taylor does have is a doozy, because it includes a roofie. Their tour guide leads a woozy, drugged Taylor up to his room, and there are a horrifying few minutes when it seems like the worst is really going to happen. We see things from Taylor’s perspective, blurry and slow, but still definitively not something she’s okay with. She tries to fight him off, but she can’t; she’s too out of it from the drugs he’s slipped her.

Thankfully, Gabe is the kind of friend-who’s-really-in-love-with-you who knows something is up when Taylor disappears from the party. Instead of assuming she’s just mingling in the crowded party or in a bathroom or even cheating on Max, Gabe goes off in search of her and finds her just in time to stop her would-be rapist. He collects Damon and decides it’s time to cut the college visit short—but not until he gives the attempted rapist three good punches: One for him, one for Taylor, and one to deter him from drugging anyone else’s drink.

After weeks of being a consummate screw-up, Gabe really comes through in a big way. What’s more, Taylor asks him not to tell Max about what happened at the party, which seems like the kind of thing that might drive a wedge between them when he (inevitably) finds out. The Gabe-Taylor-Max Finding Carter triangle is heating up, and I’m a little bummed about that, because #Maxlor.

An Afghan woman was awarded the 7th World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) prize at a ceremony in at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) on Wednesday.

The 65-year-old Dr. Sakina Yaqoobi, popularly known as Afghanistan's mother of education, received the prize for dedicating her time and persistently working in the past two decades to rebuild Afghanistan's education landscape, devastated by war.

The prize was presented to her by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

"From refugee camps to secret night schools, and often at great personal risk, she established a network of organizations that provide general education as well as public health education. While her work focuses on girls and women, it also benefits boys and men. Millions have benefited from her optimism," HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser said.

In the meantime, Dr. Yaqoobi said "I feel honoured and blessed to be chosen as this year's WISE Prize for Education Laureate. This is a great moment for Afghanistan because right now at its tipping point. Our people are suffering, they are oppressed, and poor and really hopeless.

She added "With this Prize, we know that we can continue to educate more and more Afghans, giving them hope and encourage them to go forward no matter what they are facing.

"It is such a great gift to me, and I dedicate the Prize to the Afghan Institute of Learning and all of the women, men and children we are educating," said Dr Yaqoobi.

Being the Founder and Executive Director of Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL), Dr. Yaqoobi began her work in the early nineties, when she started working in Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan.

A passionate educator herself, she trained teachers, opened schools for children, and learning centers for women.

She was also awarded the 2013 Opus Prize at a ceremony at Georgetown University for her work and efforts in the humanitarian fields and in education sector.

An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) crashed in a mountainous area south of capital Kabul on Wednesday.

An Interior Ministry official has told media on condition of anonymity that the incident took place shortly after 05:00 PM.

He said that no casualties were caused by the crash.

Media reports also cites an official of NATO's Resolute Support mission as saying that the crash is being investigated.

The official has requested not be identified as he was not authorized to talk to media about it.

Meanwhile, Taliban have claimed that the drone was shot down by them.

A post on Taliban's website states that the drone was brought down by ‘Mujahideen’ while it was carrying out surveillance in Sahak area.

The former Pakistani cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is expected to continue coaching the Afghan cricket team for at least next two years, it has reported.

The decision was reportedly taken following back-to-back series win against Zimbabwe in what was branded a historic victory for the Afghanistan cricket.

The former Afghanistan coach Kabir Khan quoted in a reported by PTI said “I spoke to Inzamam and he has accepted a two-year contract with the Afghanistan team which will do them a lot of good.”

Khan further added “Inzamam is satisfied with what he saw in Zimbabwe and believes that the Afghanistan team has good cricket talent and can move ahead.”

According to Khan, the Afghan batting will have a considerable improvement under Inzamam’s coaching. “Inzamam is a cricket great and he can do a lot to improve their batting standards,” Khan added.

He said “And his calibre and stature is such he will remain above any petty politics which have hurt Afghanistan cricket.”

Inzamam had originally agreed to coach Afghanistan on a temporary basis ahead of the ODI and Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe.

His one and half decade cricketing experience includes 120 Test matches and 388 One Day International (ODI) matches. He was offered a similar position by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2013.

Parliament on Wednesday urged government to investigate and arrest the killers of a girl who was stoned to death by a "desert court" in central Ghor province.

Lawmakers also advised the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs to instruct Mullahs of every mosque around the country to inform people about the principles of Islam regarding the forced marriages, believed to be the biggest cause behind the violence against women.

MP Habib Danish said that until weapons are not collected from the illegal armed groups and they are not weakened, tragedies like the killing of Farkhuda and Rukhshana would repeat.

Rukhshana, 19, was reportedly stoned to death in Firoz Koh, the provincial capital of Ghor, after she was caught running away with a boy she wanted to get married to.

Police Chief of Ghor province said that Rukhshana was forced to marry against her will. When she left home with another boy, Taliban caught and stoned her to death, he added.

The foundation stone of a modern city, named as "Smart City", was laid during a ceremony in capital Kabul on Wednesday.

Smart City is being constructed by private companies on 68 Jeribs of land on Sarak-e-Chehal Metra of Kabul airport. The initial investment of the city is $95 million but its revolving capital is $900 million.

An agreement has been inked between the construction companies and the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs and Housing (MUDA) based on which $50 would go to government's treasury for every cubic meter land of the city.

MUDA Minister Sayed Sadat Mansour Naderi said in the ceremony that a total of about $75 million would be given to government for the land.

"Including tax and other services, government receives approximately $100 million from this project," he said. "About 2,500 people will also find jobs through this project."

Naderi added that besides a number of countries, private companies have also shown willingness to invest in urban development and housing projects in the country and that Smart City is the first step taken by the private sector in this regard.

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani's special advisor on reforms and good governance Ahmadzia Masoud who also took part in the ceremony said that Smart City is a major step towards the economic growth of the country.

This is first time the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs and Housing is securing such a huge income for government through private sector, he added.

Russian Federation says that the request of military assistance from Afghanistan is at final stage.

"Your government had requested some military assistance free of charge… we promised to provide such types of assistance free of charge. Now it is under consideration of almost on final stage," said Russian ambassador Alexander Mantytskiy during a press conference on Tuesday.

Mantytskiy added that Afghan forces should be supplied with equipment and training they need to defend their country.

He rejected speculations that Afghanistan may become a battle ground between Russia and the United States.

"There are so many speculations that Afghanistan is becoming the place of some kind of rivalry between Russian Federation, United States and Western Countries," Mantytskiy said. "It is just speculation, you should understand…we do not have any hidden goals. We do not want to fight with America for Afghanistan…We want to continue cooperation".

"We are ready to resume such cooperation with western countries, so your government, you people should request western countries to look at Afghanistan not as a rival place…but to assist you …and restart cooperation with us," he added.

Russian Ambassador also said that some organizations are publishing news far from truth.

Alexander Mantytskiy urged media to only publish reports directly from their official sources.

A statement provided to journalists during the press conference turned the report far from the truth that Russian bombardment hit a hospital in Syria.

"I can't describe those who wrote this as journalists, but their inventiveness is truly amazing. I'd like to say that this false story has been planted with a link to the Syrian Observatory for Human Right, which is base in London. It must be very convenient to monitor and report on Syrian developments without leaving London to collect information on the ground. I am going to disavow this information. Please note that the Russian Defence Ministry holds regular briefings, during which it informs the public about the targets of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria, that is, the ISIS targets," the statement undersigned by the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated.

Residents of eastern Kunar province urge death sentence for Sediq Alamyar allegedly responsible for over 1,000 lives during the war times in Afghanistan.

Those who had lost their family members or relatives in the incident said on Tuesday that Alamyar had direct hand in the mass massacre of 1260 people and bulldozing them in Kunar province.

"Soldiers of the communist regime went to Karala and Dam villages and told them that government envoys want to talk to you," said a resident of Asadabad, the provincial capital. "After bringing them to one location, all sudden they were shot and bulldozed into two graves."

Sadeq Alamyar who was the commander of the 444th Commando Force of the Afghan Army in the year 1979 when the massacre happened was arrested on October 27 in Holland.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a report after the arrest was made that if this case goes to trial, survivors and witnesses are expected to recount how on April 20, 1979, troops of the 444th Commando Force of the Afghan Army, which Alamyar commanded, shot more than 1,000 men and boys in Karala, in Kunar province, the report states, adding that according to the Afghanistan Justice Project, as the remaining villagers watched, Alamyar's forces then bulldozed the bodies into a trench. Many were only wounded and buried alive.

"The mass grave is still visible in Karala. The incident has been described in media accounts and documented by human rights organizations, but no one has ever been held accountable for the atrocity," stated the report.

"In announcing Alamyar's arrest, the Dutch Public Prosecutor's Office has called for witnesses to the massacre to come forward. Those who have done so have already sent a clear message from beyond Karala's mass grave: Alamyar – and other war crimes suspects like him – will never be out of the reach of justice."

HRW says thousands of killings and systematic torture have taken place during the Afghan wars.

"It's rare when victims of 36-year-old crimes get their day in court. In Afghanistan's wars, there have been thousands of killings, systematic torture, rapes, and a litany of other war crimes and grievous human rights abuses. Many Afghans have called for accountability, but few perpetrators have ever faced justice. Human Rights Watch has documented similar cases over the years, and Alamyar's prosecution would give hope to victims everywhere that they too might one day see justice."

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan's intelligence agency has arrested the shadow governor of Taliban militant group for eastern Laghman province.

Aminullah Kocha was on his way to Pakistan when arrested with two of his bodyguards in Samarkhil area of Nangarhar's Behsood District, a statement released by NDS on Tuesday states. "He had come to Laghman province about a month ago for a number of destructive activities."

NDS press release further states that Aminulllah Kochai had been the shadow governor of Taliban from the past ten years whose previous assignment locations were Khost and Balkh provinces.

"He has martyred a number of innocent civilians in his terrorist activities."

A footage released by NDS shows a man who identifies himself as Aminullah Kochai saying that he had been Taliban's governor for Laghman province form the past three years.

I have heard it all now… An article titled “The Prince: Tom Brady and the Patriot's Machiavellian Spirit of Cheating” claims that the New England Patriots and Tom Brady are cheating because Tom Brady took a reduced salary to bring more talent to New England and that he is most likely being compensated in other ways as a loop hole.

A HIGHLY credible (sarcastic) site called LARRY LARRY ON SPORTS is claiming that the home team QB is taking a discount and thus is cheating the system.

The Patriots have one other huge advantage. Tom Brady has a contract that is at a significant discount to his market value, and therefore a salary cap that is effectively higher than that of every other team (I estimate by at least $7mm). And there may be more to the story with regard to how Tom Brady is playing for such a large discount to market.

Therefore, the Patriots are playing with a salary cap that is effectively about $7mm higher than the rest of the league. That extra $7mm in effective cap space confers a huge advantage to the Patriots.

Although taking this kind of discount to try to win a championship is noble in theory, it is also cheating in spirit.

The purpose of a salary cap is NOT to confer a massive competitive advantage to teams with independently wealthy players who can afford to take a discount to try and buy themselves a championship.

That last line made me chuckle, find wealthy people who don’t need the money! PEFECT PLAN. Is this guy for real right now? The fact that this guy has a platform to even be able to go online and say something as stupid as this is why maybe blogs should be regulated. How about the fact that some athletes aren’t money grubbing whores and the basis of winning is more important than stuffing his wallet. It is quite evident that Brady loves what he does, clearly winning comes first and money comes second. This thought process escapes many many athletes.

Remember in Latrell Sprewell laughed off a $14.6 million dollar a year salary offer because “I have a family to feed”. A total joke and what is exactly wrong with the mentality of these guys.

Maybe Tom has figured out that by taking less money and allowing the Patriots to spend more on the offensive line he wont get killed like the QBs that take all the money. And that will allow him to continue to play into his late 30’s and early 40’s and make even more money than the QBs that took it all and had short careers due to injury…

Tom Brady is just an example of a franchise player/team player. These people wish this guy was under center for their team. Stooping this low to criticize the Patriots is a new level of pathetic…

I hope for the sake of this guy this is a satirical article, but the depth he has put into it, I am afraid not…

What would this guy prefer to happen to the way professional athletes are compensated?

It sounds like he would be in favor of players having no choice in their free agency choices, that they would become nothing more than just commodities with a market value.  They would then have no choice but to go play for the highest bidder, even if they didn’t want to.  There are endless examples of players who have taken less money so that they could stay with their hometown team.  Joe Mauer took an offer that was tens of millions of dollars less than the highest bidder when he was facing free agency in 2010.  Where was the outrage then?   There wasn’t any, because this is the most absurd line of thinking I have ever seen.

I have yet to find a stat of Tom Brady or the Patriots that hasn’t blown my socks off, every single category it seems like they are at the very top or very close to the top, being surrounded by greatness feels good. OTM Sports has focused a lot on what Brady has done since half time of the AFC Championship, and truth be told, it is impressive what Brady has done since then, but I wanted to take a look back at the Patriots and Brady since the dreaded Kansas City Chiefs blow out game, the game that caused Trent Dilfer to say “Let’s face it, they’re not good anymore”. What the Patriots have done collectively as a team since then is nothing short of spectacular. And the main stat, they also won the SB.

One of the losses at the end of last year came at the very end of the season to the Bills. It was a game that Brady hardly played and the Patriots had everything clinched. And if I recall Gronk and Edelman didn’t play either… But it is what it is, a loss is a loss and it is still remarkable.

Still feel this way Trent?

Never count out Tom Brady and Bill Belichick… They will always be relevant.  Eat your words.

Tom Brady is 38 years old and looks as good as ever. When he is off the field, he is constantly preparing. Whether it is working out or eating right, he does this 365 days a year. He has said numerous times on WEEI that every thing he does and eats is for football and prolonging his career. Next time Peyton Manning wonders why his arm is a noodle, he can turn his TV on and see himself. That should remind him why he is horrid.. Commercial whore at its finest…

One of the things that increases my already unhealthy love of the Patriots is just how well-run the entire organization is. The Colts right now are in chaos. The 49ers are a *bleep* show. Year after year there are coaching changes and rumors and distracting sideshows with about half of the league’s teams. But whether the Patriots are winning or losing (and often winning), the ship runs smoothly. From the Krafts on down to the the last man on the practice squad, the institution and organization is run with efficiency, professionalism, and adeptness. It’s awesome to see and we should be grateful we don’t have the drama that other teams have. I love this team and I think they love me back…

The 23-year-old winger is the first former Bruin to notch a hat trick against his old team since Mariusz Czerkawski did so on Nov 7, 1996. Alex Goligoski netted another power-play goal to put Dallas ahead 5-2, and Eriksson added one final tally for Boston — his second of the night — to close out the scoring.

An already-struggling Bruins penalty-kill unit desperately missed Kelly, surrendering three man-down goals for the first time this season. Chris Kelly is out 6-8 months with a fractured Femur.

Seguin coming back to the Garden to play the Bruins is sort of like seeing a former girlfriend in public, you watch closely to see what they are doing, but don’t say anything. Seeing him score a hat trick against the Bruins is sort of like being forced to watch that same ex girlfriend get intimate with someone else and being forced to watch. Just painfully brutal to see. The Bruins cut Seguin loose more so for his off the ice activity than his on the ice performance, and that is tough for me to hear because is it something they could have just dealt with appropriately rather than ship him out? Makes you wonder what Chiarelli was thinking..

UP NEXT The Bruins now head out for a three-game road trip, beginning Thursday night in Washington. The Capitals will be another difficult test, as they entered Tuesday with the best record in the Metropolitan Division.

When Whoopi Goldberg defended her co-hosts on The View after they criticized Carly Fiorina's facial expressions, she suggested the Republican presidential candidate should be thankful because the show actually helped raise her profile.

As it turns out, Fiorina is using her battle with the show to raise something else: money.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO fired out a fundraising email Tuesday that said The View hosts "played in the gutter: attacking my looks, my face, my smile."

"Many problems will impact the American people in 2016 – both men and women," Fiorina wrote in the missive, which included a video clip of The View hosts talking about her. "My face is not one of them."

Fiorina goes on to ask recipients to please chip in "just $13" to help her push back against personal attacks.

The feud with the show began last week, after The View co-host Michelle Collins said Fiorina "looked demented" during the last GOP presidential debate and fellow co-host Joy Behar chimed in that the visage would make a good Halloween mask.

Fiorina pushed back during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, saying liberal media are threatened by conservative women like her.

"It will not stop me, it will not scare me," she said. "Maybe the ladies of The View, if I come back on again, let's see if they have the guts to say that to my face."

Goldberg announced on the show Monday that they will indeed get a chance to do just that. Fiorina is slated to appear Friday.

Fiorina has not notched great fundraising numbers among Republican presidential hopefuls so far. Her campaign had raised $8.4 million as of Sept. 30, placing her sixth behind Ben Carson, former Florida governor Jeb Bush, and Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Marco Rubio of Florida, and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The rise of Rep. Paul Ryan to speaker of the House marks the demise of a venerable congressional institution: the speaker’s monthly expense check.

Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck told USA TODAY the Wisconsin Republican will not be accepting the $2,000 monthly check that Speaker John Boehner received for “leadership expenses.”

Congress sets aside a couple hundred thousand dollars a year for the “Official Expenses of Leaders” to pay for the kind of ceremonial activities that leaders are expected to host — $25,000 for the speaker of the House, $40,000 for the Senate majority leader, and so forth. These accounts are above and beyond the budgets each leader is given for salaries and expenses in their leadership offices.

These things generally show up listed in House expenditure records as specific expenses, such as the $7,000 House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., spent on catering March 18, for a bipartisan event honoring of the women justices of the Supreme Court.

In the Senate leadership offices, the expenses are reported as “supplies and materials.” The most recent Senate spending reports showed Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spent a little over $16,000 from this account from September 2014 through March 2015; Minority Leader Harry Reid spent just over $18,000.

But departed House speaker John Boehner simply received a $2,083.33 payment for expenses each month — no itemization required. He was the last leader in Congress to receive this check – Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland stopped receiving a monthly payout in February 2011, after Roll Call wrote a story about the expense accounts.

With the end of the congressional expense check, Ryan gets credit for a change in “how the House does business.”

Running for president requires knowledge of a vast array of issues, both domestic and foreign, and even the local lingo associated with them, as Ben Carson learned Wednesday.

The retired neurosurgeon and GOP candidate was caught off-guard during a phone interview with the Miami Herald by questions about U.S.-Cuba policies:

“…Carson appeared stumped by questions about the so-called wet-foot, dry-foot policy, which allows Cubans who reach U.S. soil to remain here, and about the Cuban Adjustment Act, which allows Cubans who arrive in the U.S. to apply for legal residency after 366 days.

He was candid about not being up to speed.

“You’re going to have to explain to me exactly what you mean by that,” Carson said, asked about wet-foot, dry-foot. “I have to admit that I don’t know a great deal about that, and I don’t really like to comment until I’ve had a chance to study the issue from both sides.”

On the Cuban Adjustment Act, he gave a similar response: “Again, I’ve not been briefed fully on what that is.”

He went on to expound about President Obama's move toward normalizing relations with Cuba – Carson believes a thaw shouldn't occur until Cuba has a new leader. And he said he believes the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba should remain in place.

Carson wasn't the first presidential candidate stumped by "wet-foot-dry-foot" and Cuban Adjustment Act questions. Herman Cain faltered on the same questions in Florida four years ago.

Carson has been surging in recent polls and was virtually tied with Donald Trump at the front of the GOP pack in a Quinnipiac survey released Wednesday. The result pushed him into first place for the first time in the RealClearPolitics national polling average.

He is currently on a tour of Florida promoting his new book.

Support for Jeb Bush among Republicans across the nation has plummeted to only 4% in the latest Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday.

That's down from 10% in September.

The former Florida governor has sought to reset his campaign this week with a new "Jeb can fix it" slogan and tour in the wake of staff cutbacks and criticism of his performances on the campaign trail and in debates.

The new Quinnipiac survey found that among Republicans and Republican-leaning voters, Bush indeed lost the last debate on Oct. 28 by a resounding margin — some 40% said he did the worst job. The second-worst place went to Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 15%.

Longtime race leader Donald Trump remains near the front of the GOP pack. The poll found that Trump is virtually tied for the lead with retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson. Trump is at 24% among Republican voters and Carson has 23%, well within the 4.4-point margin of error.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is in third place with 14% — a gain of 5 points since the last Quinnipiac survey in September. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has 13%, up from 7% in September. No other candidate is near double digits.

In general election matchups against Democrat Hillary Clinton, Quinnipiac found that Carson would beat her 50% to 40%, Rubio and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie both would best her 46% to 41%, and Cruz would lead her 46% to 43%.

The only candidate tested that would lose to Clinton is Trump. He gets 43% support to Clinton’s 46%.

The poll surveyed 1,144 registered voters between Oct. 29 and Nov. 2.

John Boehner may be out of power, but he's making new political moves — hiring a small army of power players to manage his post-congressional career.

Boehner has tapped Robert Barnett, a Washington super-lawyer, to handle his business and legal affairs, according to a report in Politico and confirmed by The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Barnett is known for, among other things, helping big-name politicians snag lucrative book contracts. Among his previous clients: Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. During one of his last days on Capitol Hill, Boehner suggested he might write a memoir, and there's no question he would have plenty of juicy political stories to tell.

The former congressman also signed up with a New York-based speaker's bureau, the Harry Walker Agency. The agency will likely land Boehner a series of well-paid speaking engagements.

And he tapped two long-time ex-congressional aides – John Criscuolo and Dave Schnittger – to handle political and media affairs.

"The nature of Speaker Boehner’s post-congressional activity is something that is only just beginning to take shape," Schnittger said in an email to The Enquirer on Wednesday morning.  "Many decisions lie ahead for him.  Getting a team in place to help sort through his options and manage the fundamentals is step one in what will be a gradual process."

Schnittger did not answer a specific question about what Boehner will do with the millions of dollars he has remaining in his campaign accounts. In his congressional re-election committee, for example, Boehner reported having about $3.7 million in cash on hand at the end of September. He had another $1.5 million in a Boehner for Speaker account.

Federal election law doesn’t limit how long a campaign committee may remain open. Leftover campaign funds can be given to authorized charities, political candidates or parties. The money cannot be used for the ex-lawmaker's personal benefit.

Jeb Bush has apologized for his joke about the French workweek during last week’s debate.

"I made the mistake of saying that the Congress operates on a French workweek," Bush told reporters Wednesday in New Hampshire. "I really did a disservice to the French.”

Bush made the crack while criticizing Marco Rubio for missing votes in the Senate, telling his rival:  “What is it, like a French workweek?”

The comment drew criticism itself from French officials.

Bush communications director Tim Miller: "My inbox was full of French journalists.”

Big, hairy issue 1: The border

Like he who must not be named, there's a word new House Speaker Paul Ryan dare not say: Comprehensive. As in, comprehensive immigration reform. *shudder* Ryan put the kibosh on addressing comprehensive reform for the rest of Obama's term, telling NBC's Chuck Todd that he doesn't trust the president on the issue. So, should a Democrat win the presidency next year, will Ryan be willing to trust him or her? Don't bet on it. "I was elected Speaker of the House to unify the Republican Congress, not to dis-unify the Republican Congress," he said. In other words: We'll talk a lot about building taller walls. But when it comes to actually passing anything, we'll defer and blame it on those darn open-border liberals.

Big, hairy issue 2: The budget

Stop the presses: Congress actually did something bipartisan. It passed a resolution suspending the debt ceiling until March 2017, which in theory should make budgeting more predictable until the new president takes office (though the whole thing could unravel in a shutdown in December, once the next round of bills to spend money come up for votes). The latest deal also commits to eventual entitlement reform, which inches us toward the third rail of budget politics: Making big money sucks, like Social Security, Medicare and health care, more sustainable. Good luck with that.

Big, hairy issue 3: The court

There are a lot of old people on the Supreme Court, and that's not just an insensitive thing to say about the three octogenarians wading through issues no one else wants to address. As USA TODAY's Richard Wolf reports, the next president will likely have several seats to fill because of impending retirements (or other, um, unfortunate events). Depending on who wins the election, the new president's appointments could swing the court right or left, impacting rulings for decades.

We'd be remiss not to bring you President Obama's thoughts on Republican dissatisfaction with MSNBC debate moderators. "If you can't handle those guys," the president told a group of Democratic donors, "I don't think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you."

And speaking of donors, billionaire Charles Koch (the talkier half of the Koch Brothers, which, sadly, is not a '90s boy band) says he's generally unimpressed with his GOP choices. Oh, he'll still funnel plenty of cash into Republican campaigns. But that doesn't mean he'll like it, he told MSNBC's “Morning Joe.” USA TODAY's Fredreka Schouten has more from the interview.

Major U.S. market index futures were lower Thursday, as confidence grows that China’s stimulus efforts have succeeded in stabilizing the economy, while testimony from Fed Chair Janet Yellen pointed toward a possible December rate hike.

Here is where major index futures stood ahead of the opening bell:

• Dow: -0.1%
• S&P 500: -0.1%
• Nasdaq: -0.1%

China’s Shanghai Composite jumped 63.18 points, or 1.8%, to close at 3,522.8.  Angus Nicholson, a market analyst at IG in Melbourne, Australia, said stability in China’s economic data, such as retail sales and Chinese manufacturing indicate Beijing’s stimulus policies are starting to have an effect in supporting growth.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 189.5 points, or 1%, to close at 19,116.4 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index stayed essentially flat, losing 2.53 points to close at 23.051.

Investors were also weighing Yellen’s testimony before the House Financial Services Committee.

Yellen said the economy is “performing well” and that a December interest rate hike is a “live possibility,” although she stressed the decision hasn’t yet been made and will depend on how the economy performs in the coming weeks.

“Even with weak data, Fed rhetoric increasingly points toward a December lift-off,” DBS Group Research said in a daily commentary. The report said it was only a week ago when markets lowered the odds of a December rate hike due to poor data. “Markets have had to adjust expectations rapidly.”

European benchmarks lost ground, with Britain’s FTSE 100 down 0.6%, Germany’s DAX 0.2% lower and France’s CAC-40 down less than 0.1%.

Shares of Papa John's International fell 14% Wednesday after the pizza chain reported sluggish third quarter sales and issued a warning for a continued slowdown later this year.

The quarterly revenue dipped 0.3% from a year ago to $389.3 million. The company blamed the fall on lower equipment sales of its new retail transaction system — called FOCUS — that is being rolled out to its franchisees.

Its unit that sells pizza ingredients to restaurants, PJ Food Service, also reported lower sales, the Louisville, Ky.-based company said.

Net income went up 11.8% to $18 million. Earnings per share for the quarter totaled 45 cents, matching analysts' consensus estimate compiled by Zacks Investment Research.

Shares fell $9.25 to $58.80 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The company now expects earnings for 2015 to be “near the low end” of the range of $2.04 and $2.10 per share.

Years ending in five have been Wall Street's lucky number for a long time. Not into numerology? Think again.

It's often said that there's no sure thing on Wall Street. But investing in stocks in years ending in five is as close as it gets.

The S&P 500 stock index has NEVER posted a down year in years ending in five – going back to 1928. The average gain for U.S. stocks in years ending in five is a whopping 25%.  Compare that to the average gain of roughly 10% in all years.

But 2015 has been rockier. The large-company stock index was deep in the red during this summer's price correction. And heads into Wednesday's trading up just 2.5% for the year. And there's still two months to go. And a possible rate hike from the Federal Reserve and other potential headwinds looming.

So there's still a chance the Lucky Five trend will prove faulty in 2015.

But if a year-end rally occurs, investors will be talking about the stock market's uncanny success in years ending in five – all the way to the bank.

Japan Post shares gained 26% on their first day of trading Wednesday, after Japan’s postal service sold shares to the public for the first time.

The stock, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, raised $11.7 billion for the company making it one of the biggest initial public offerings of the year. The company plans to use the proceeds to help rebuild damage left from the 2011 tsunami catastrophe.

Japan Post was the biggest slice of a three part public offering, including Japan Post Bank and Japan Post Insurance, which rose 15% and 56%, respectively, says Richard Peterson of S&P Capital IQ.

Shares of Japan Post closed at 1,760 yen, giving the company a market value of $65.2 million in U.S dollars.

Fans have logged more than 21 million hours of total gameplay, including 12 million hours in campaign mode alone. The widely praised multiplayer modes have also led to 9 million total hours played with nearly 7 million multiplayer matches played across Arena and the all-new Warzone mode. In addition, Halo fans are taking to the new Requisition System in a big way, with over 45 million REQ Packs acquired, totaling more than 568 million REQ Cards.

Last week’s “Halo 5: Live” earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most watched video game launch broadcast, setting a precedent with more than 330,000 unique streams on the evening of the broadcast. In addition, content from the broadcast generated 5.5 million total views throughout the week. This resulted in a spike in digital sales of “Halo 5: Guardians,” leading to it becoming the best-selling digital game ever in the Xbox Store for an opening week.

A custom Twitter emoji of the Master Chief — the first ever for a video game franchise — is the result of Twitter’s hunt for partnerships with iconic, global brands. The buzz also extended to Twitch, where “Halo 5: Guardians” was the most streamed Xbox One exclusive game, with more than 3 million hours watched in the first week.

Last year’s Assassin’s Creed instalment, Unity, was hugely damaging for the series and Ubisoft. Game breaking bugs and issues plagued it from the moment it was released and it quickly became a running joke in the gaming community. Simply put, Ubisoft got it badly wrong. Unity was used to try and add so many new features such as online co-op missions and Clubs for players to join together and then compete in challenges whilst features like the popular competitive Multiplayer were removed. Some of the new changes worked great but the failings will be what many remember most.

So with that said, there is huge pressure on this year's release of Assassin's Creed Syndicate' to get the series back on track, help restore Ubisoft’s reputation and to give series fans a great experience. Moving to Victorian London, Syndicate tasks this important mission to the twin brother and sister Assassin’s Jacob and Evie Frye, who must free London from the tight grip of the Templars'. Can the Frye’s not only save London but get the series back on form?

Syndicate begins in the present day where Unity left off. The player is contacted by Bishop from the Assassin’s brotherhood and given the mission of reliving the genetic memories of Jacob and Evie Frye in order to locate a piece of Eden that the Twins encountered in 1868 Victorian London at the end of the Industrial Revolution. Much like in the past, the race to find this piece of Eden is also happening in the present day as the Templars' are also searching for the same artefact.

Syndicate marks the first time in the series that the player will have the control of two main Assassin characters, with story missions requiring either Jacob or Evie to complete them. Outside of the story missions however, the player is free to switch between using either Assassin to complete side missions. Whilst both Jacob and Evie have the same core Assassin skill set, each has a very different style of playing. Jacob is a more brawler focused character, happier to have a good fight then to work in the shadows. He is cocky and rash to take action without considering the aftermath of his actions. Evie is a more methodical Assassin who prefers to take her time to Plan ahead, to cover all bases and focus on stealth over open conflict to take out a target.

The differences in how Jacob and Evie play is also reflected in their skill trees which the player will upgrade for each Assassin during the course of the game. Both will share the same base skills but how and which skills you enhance will shape their use for the game. As you increase their skills you will find certain ones which will be unique to Jacob or to Evie with a focus on stealth for Evie and combat for Jacob. Skill points are obtained by completing both main story missions but also in free roam side missions and completing objectives for your allies.

Story missions are split between Jacob and Evie, as Jacob works to take out the Templar leaders controlling the London boroughs and Evie focusing on working with Henry Green to track down and secure the Piece of Eden. Having the story told by the different viewpoints really highlights the story more and their different personalities are fun to explore.

In free roam the second objective is free London and its people from the control of the Templars'. Jacob decides the best way to do this is to form their own gang called the Rooks. Each borough is gang controlled and led by a Templar leader and each has a difficulty level so the player can gage if they are ready to challenge it or not which should prevent players getting caught out in boroughs the Frye's are not equipped to handle. To clear a borough certain side objectives must be completed. From freeing children in a work house, clearing out a gang hideout to capturing a target and delivering them to the police. By clearing one area of the borough at a time, you will increase your own gang, The Rooks. The Rooks also have an upgrade skill tree that will enhance their ability to fight, provide more resources and to weaken enemy gang skills.

Once the borough has been cleared it will trigger a final gang fight encounter with the enemy gang leader to seize control. The gang leader may also appear following one of the objective missions giving an early opportunity to take them out making the final gang fight much easier but be quick as they will try to escape.

I found Syndicate to have a satisfying amount of gameplay content to work through with main story sequences boosted by the clearing of the boroughs. Your allies will also have task missions along the way and by completing their themed tasks will reward the player by unlocking higher level equipment upgrades or weapons to use. There really is just so much to do that I found myself pausing on the main story missions at Sequence 5 and just worked on clearing all the boroughs. Although the objectives per boroughs are the same, the difference in difficulty and working for rewards keeps the gameplay fresh.

Syndicate is a far more solid play than last year’s Unity but I did make some observations as a fan of the series. It is very clear that Ubisoft hit the emergency break following the reaction and issues with Unity. As a result Syndicate very much feels like the development was all about playing it safe. Many of the elements in gameplay have been taken from previous games and updated for Syndicate. The best of Unity in the updated free running system and weapon and gear upgrades have been kept and refined. Character confessions have returned which have always been a favourite element of the series as have the multi finisher combat kills first used in Assassin’s Creed III.

But quite a lot of the animations have also been reused. The free running is exactly how Arno performed in Unity and how you open chests with a kick is straight from how Edward Kenway opened chests in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. The horse and carriage gameplay was first seen in Assassin’s Creed Revelations and is reused naturally here for Victorian London. Ubisoft have stuck to what has worked in the past for the series and so has reduced the risk of gameplay bugs that Unity suffered from. But going forward and as a long term series fan, it would be great to see an AC title with the same solid and grounded gameplay but to feel that it has taken steps forward for the series. Getting that balance wrong with Unity has forced the development of Syndicate to play it safe.

I did have some niggles with gameplay. The horse and carriage element can be very frustrating as the roads will be full of other carriages making any chases or combat feel clumsy and cluttered as you constantly smash into other carriages or street side obstacles. The removal of the co-op from Unity I feel was a mistake as it would have been great fun to do missions withwith both Jacob and Evie working together. But overall Syndicate has far more positives then negatives.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing Syndicate on many levels. As a Londoner born and raised, getting to explore my home city has been amazing from crossing the Thames by jumping across barges to visiting famous London landmarks such as climbing At Paul’s Cathedral. The attention to detail adds so much to the game world as you explore it and with the new traversal element of the rope line launcher to enhance how you move around, players can explore like never before. The combat is more fluid than ever with weapon choice really changing Jacob’s and Evie's fighting style and is responsive and satisfying.

Jacob and Evie Frye are enticing Assassins to play as and learn about and though I found Evie to be my preferred choice, I loved the freedom to switch between the Twins during free roam. Their relationship and story quickly became a highlight of my experience along with the varied historical characters you meet such as Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens. Syndicate had a lot of boxes to tick to win back those who felt burned by Unity’s problems. I feel it has succeeded and that Ubisoft being more cautious to get things right with Syndicate has shown that lessons have been learned.

With the present day story getting a much needed focus and a game firmly back into being an enjoyable experience with plenty of little nods for series fans, Syndicate has returned Assassin’s Creed to a good place. Ubisoft can build on this going forward, but how brave they will be for the next game will have to be seen.

Thank you for that Judy, I connected with everything you said. Despite all that is happening, we are not yet aware of how powerful we are. It is THIS awakening that must happen. To discover how powerful we are and how can change everything if we KNOW how powerful we are. The matrix/control system was all about that, it wasn't about controlling us, it was about keeping us from finding out who we really are. We have been programmed to look upward, whether that is god or some "human hierarchial" person with greater knowledge or education. We have been looking up for so long that we forgot to look for ourselves. This end is happening because we have turned over just about every stone looking for answers and many of us are now realizing it was there all along, US, WE are the ones that we needed to get to know…we are so powerful and this is the truth THEY don't want us to know. Here at Petri Dish we are all about cataloging the absurdity of our run away into darkness culture. Cultures were once much more separated than they are now. Since global media; pretty much all in the same hands, due to companies being publicly traded and then privately bought up by the people who control the currency printing presses (one way or another) and the internet, are internationally interpenetrating, we now live in an age of duplicitous information saturation. You could also say we live in a world of lies. Well… this has been the case for awhile, since a self chosen cabal of Satanic Materialists has been at great pains to deceive the rest of the world for some time.

Along with the world becoming so similar at every reach, due to the plague of Materialism Fever, there is also now the presence of Mr. Apocalypse, who is not only exposing the lies at an ever increasing speed but who is also displaying them as the tragic farces they are by creating circumstances of ironic exposure that show them in their most ridiculous light. Here is one glaring example. I can honestly say that I saw this coming a long time ago. I think it is time for the rest of us to take this venal and vile fantasy mainstream and world wide into the court of public opinion and into the courts of law as well. Though our courts are compromised by the plague of Noahide infiltration, with Mr. Apocalypse at our backs there is a wind of change coming. Who says we can’t sue these fiends on behalf of the human race? It’s just a thought but… if there are any courageous lawyers out there you definitely have an articulate and argumentative client in me. I have already established my effectiveness in this regard by being the single example of a landmark case where ALL the odds were stacked against me and where it had never been done before or since.

With every passing day we are hearing about more and more absurd theories and belief systems. Once we had Heaven’s Gate, as a sort of ‘ahead of its time’ anomaly and now we have Hell’s Backdoor as a consistent and repeating theme, 24/7 …and the idea of ever larger and more numerous Heaven’s Gate clusters of group departures seems extremely logical and… predictable. You can expect people, singly and in groups, to start offing themselves with regularity. The human mind can only tolerate so much and when you are talking about the untrained and brainwashed minds of an ever dumber, more selfish and deceived populations, I would say we have come right up to the outer margins of the bending end. Not only are people going to be offing themselves but also each other and that is already happening. Their desperation is becoming unbearable.

That was a pretty negative paragraph wasn’t it? Well… if you can’t see these things then you are probably in the midst of them. It is so logical it is mathematical. Once the focus of the human mind goes completely out of focus, you wind up with a society filled with people who can’t see where they are going. The result of this is that people get fearful. Then they get angry. Then they run into each other. Then the expected happens. If it were not for my certainty that luminous intelligences are tracking us and guiding those who have the ‘insight’ to be guided, I would say we are all doomed.

Right here in the Valley of the Shadow of Death I can feel the light breaking. I can’t see it. False dawn surrounds me on all sides but I can feel the light. I can feel the force of good, concentrating and expanding at the same time. I sense this because even though, in my own life, my days have been fraught with difficulty and all forms of uncertainty, there is a deeper confidence that fills my heart and won’t go away. Even when there is no sign of improvement, I can sense the higher value of what lies just out of reach and somehow, I know, if I can just keep going for another mile, another day, the rules of ageless wisdom tell me I cannot fail and neither can you.

In these times of materialism, I am astounded at the number of people who are marching double time into any and every available darkness and embracing the most outrageous and ridiculous lies. They so desperately need something to believe in that they will accept near anything simply in order to have something to lean on. Unfortunately, it is consistently something external to them and as life becomes increasingly more cartoon like and more absurd, so too does what they lean upon and depend upon. It should be obvious, but it is not, that as external stability becomes more and more unstable, what lies within has an ever greater potential stability and that is the point of the whole exercise in the first place.

The point of this ever more toxic and unbalanced, pell mell runaway chariot of the horses of the mind, is to provoke the emergence of the controller from within. For those with the fortune and vision to capture this understanding there will come the ability to navigate their way through the swirling chaos that surrounds them. It’s logical. It’s mathematical. However much the darkness expands, the light will concentrate. It is simply a matter of one gravitating to the heart’s most sincere desire. If it is pain and loss you seek, it is there to be found. If it is clarity and joy that you seek, it is there to be found. In these times, it is all there. One is to be seen everywhere around and the other is to be seen within. You will be drawn to that upon which your greatest attention is given and even if you are overwhelmed otherwise, the force of your love will save you if that which you love is true. No shadow, no matter how great, can hold its place against the light of a single candle.

A few years earlier I never thought I would experience such a series of trials and states of want and uncertainty again. It seemed as if the enjoyable routine that I had attained to would be a fixture in my life and I was happy in my fashion in ways that I had not been since the carefree and all too brief period of much earlier times. Then into my mind came the clear understanding that it would all change, that it must change so that what needed to come would be able to come. It made no real sense but I watched it happen and all of the predictable delight of the day to day went away and I have yet to see the profit of being suddenly cast upon these unknown waters… still… in all the periods of tumultuous change, treachery and betrayal, the certainty of the unseen has never left my mind. Even in those short moments when I railed against the seeming injustice of my state, I could not shake the abiding calm that told me; "ignore appearances, nothing is what is appears to be. This is only the outworking of destiny and all will be well."

I say these things today because I know that others are experiencing their own versions of similar states of discontent and trial. Others are encountering loss and elsewise, as what was familiar to them is being swept away and replaced by one form of suffering or another and I tell you, as scripture has told you, "Be of good cheer. The end of your sorrow is near." Life is a brief dream in a world of shadows and insubstantial things that look solid and have the sense of permanence about them …have the persona of what is real …but there is nothing solid and nothing permanent here. It all comes and goes and so do you. It is where you go that makes all the difference and it is where you are that determines where you go.

Always remember the thoughts and words of those who have passed before. Remember the tales told of their trials and sufferings. Remember that they passed into the blessed regions from which locations they guide every seeking soul this very day. Remember the promises of the great teachers who have preceded us. Try to remind yourself that just because you cannot see the divine does not mean the divine is not there. You would have no life without the ineffable. The divine is the life within you. There would be no life otherwise. It is like the sun which provides, in one fashion or another, everything external in the manifest sense because all form is frozen sunlight. It should be a reminder of that spiritual sun whose light and power are so much greater and without which there would be no physical suns or anything else. Truly, I know how hard it can be and this is precisely why I speak to you about it today. Help really is on the way. It does not come when we want it to. It comes when we need it to and we are made strong in the interim.
I pray that we all find the comfort and succor that we seek and believe it will be so. Carry on in the best fashion of which you are capable and beyond that… trust in the benevolence of the one who loves you more than you can possibly imagine.

(Malay Mail Online) – DAP's Tony Pua cannot make statements on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) both inside and outside the Parliament, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Datuk Hasan Arifin said today.

Hasan maintained that Pua is not able to make any 1MDB statement even though a ruling earlier this week by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia did not expressly prohibit the lawmaker from doing so.

"No, it's clear from the Speaker's ruling. He can't speak about it (1MDB) even if it is in the Parliament," Hasan told reporters when met outside the Parliament lobby.

He also claimed that the Speaker's ruling follows worldwide parliamentary conventions, citing the Australian Parliament as one example, the same that Pandikar used when making his decision yesterday.

Additionally, Hasan also said it would be difficult for Pua to talk about 1MDB while still being a member of the PAC with the probe still ongoing.

"It is very difficult to differentiate between what he (Pua) says (based on public knowledge and what he says based on PAC meetings).

"Anyhow as PAC chairman I will follow whatever ruling by the Speaker," he said.

On Tuesday, Pandikar said he would not allow the debate on 1MDB as it is still the subject of an ongoing probe by the House's PAC.

He said Pua can only take part in the debate if he were to either resign as a member of the PAC or excuse himself from any and all proceedings involving the state-owned firm.

However, the Speaker conceded that he had no power to impose any order on non-PAC members, which includes 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

The Seremban MP rejects Arul Kanda’s reason for backing out of the debate on 1MDB

(Free Malaysia Today) – Seremban MP Anthony Loke today censured 1MDB chief Arul Kanda Kandasamy for backing out of a debate on the state investment arm.

Speaking to reporters at the parliament lobby, Loke implied that Arul had exhibited cowardly behaviour when he said he was withdrawing from the much-awaited debate following an opposition announcement that Rafizi Ramli would replace Tony Pua in the confrontation.

"If he's trying to chicken out, then just say so," Loke said.

He rejected the reason Arul gave, which was that he was abiding by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker's ruling on the matter.

"He's just trying to find a way to avoid the debate," Loke said, noting that the Speaker had stated that he had no jurisdiction over Arul.

Rafizi also tells 1MDB chief to stop hiding behind the Speaker by suggesting that he replace Tony Pua in the PAC so the latter is free to debate him

(Free Malaysia Today) – Opposition MP Rafizi Ramli has said that while he was not surprised Arul Kanda Kandasamy was "not brave enough" to debate him on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), it was also not right for the latter to hide behind the Dewan Rakyat Speaker.

Commenting on Arul's unwillingness to go ahead with the debate now, Rafizi said, "I'm not surprised when Arul says that he does not want to do it (debate Rafizi), but don't hide behind the Speaker.

"The Speaker's ruling was clear: the main concern was that a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member cannot be involved in the debate. Tony Pua ((DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) asked a very specific question in the Dewan and we got the answer," Rafizi said.

With Pua having backed off, Rafizi also noted that the Speaker had said that he had no power to stop a non-PAC member from participating in the debate.

"We expected this. What they (the government) did not take into account was that there would be a reserve.

Rafizi was referring to himself being named as the replacement for Pua to debate Arul on 1MDB.

"It is obvious that he (Arul) agreed beforehand just to get rid of Tony Pua from the PAC. Now that they are in this position, he cannot say that he is a professional and that he does not want to get involved in the debate," Rafizi argued.

Rafizi also said that the debate was neither personal nor a "show", and that it had a RM50 billion financial bearing on the people.

"He (Arul) must remember that 1MDB issued bonds that were held by KWSP, Tabung Haji and such. These are questions that every Malaysian wants to know (the answers to) because it is our money that is stuck with 1MDB."

(Malay Mail Online) – 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy has been summoned to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on December 1, which falls on the final week of this year's Parliament session.

Malay Mail Online understands that besides Arul Kanda, former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi has also been summoned to testify and is scheduled to appear for a hearing a week earlier on November 25.

"A letter of notice for the meetings has been sent to PAC members, witnesses and the ministries involved today," an official notice from the PAC sighted by Malay Mail Online said.

Tycoon Low Taek Jho or Jho Low was not on the notice list.

Newly-appointed PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said earlier this week that the 1MDB probe ― which was suspended after the committee's previous head and four members resigned ― is resuming, but did not disclose when this will be.

Aside from the PAC, the Auditor-General is also conducting an audit on the accounts of 1MDB, which has reportedly amassed debts of some RM42 billion since it was incorporated in 2009.

The PAC and AG began their investigations into 1MDB after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in March ordered the probes to address allegations of mismanagement against the firm.

The PAC was last investigating 1MDB when its chairman then, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, resigned after he was made deputy home minister.

Aside from Nur Jazlan, four other Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs also resigned after they were brought into the federal administration.

The resignations prompted Parliament Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to suspend the PAC's proceedings, drawing protests from the remaining opposition lawmakers on the committee.

Two weeks ago, Hasan was named as Nur Jazlan's replacement while the remaining BN vacancies have also been filled.

The composition of the panel is otherwise unchanged.

Prior to its suspension, the PAC had been due to question 1MDB's current chief executive Arul Kanda and his predecessor, Shahrol on August 4 and 5.

So there you have it. Arul Kanda is still prepared to debate Tony Pua and he has suggested ways in how it can be done. So Tony Pua can still debate Arul Kanda, and instead of asking Rafizi Ramli to replace him (Tony Pua) in the debate, Rafizi Ramli can replace him in the PAC.

1MDB's President, Arul Kanda Kandasamy, has just issued a press statement, Integrity of PAC must be respected (READ THE FULL STATEMENT HERE), which basically calls DAP’s Tony Pua a coward and a liar who issued a challenge knowing full well that, as a member of the PAC, he cannot fulfil.

Arul Kanda also said that Tony Pua is hiding behind his PAC post to wrangle his way out of the debate, probably after realising that he has bitten off more than he can chew. In fact, people like PKR's Rafizi Ramli think it is a suicide mission because Arul Kanda (a debating champion) is going to make mincemeat out of Tony Pua.

Pakatan Harapan has proposed, to protect Tony Pua's position in the PAC, that Rafizi Ramli should replace Tony Pua in the debate. However, it was Tony Pua and not Pakatan Harapan that challenged Arul Kanda to a debate so why is Arul Kanda now being asked to debate Pakatan Harapan's proxy, Rafizi Ramli, instead?

Arul Kanda suggested that Rafizi Ramli should instead replace Tony Pua in the PAC so that Tony Pua would be free to debate him. If Rafizi Ramli is good enough to replace Tony Pua in the debate then he should be good enough to replace Tony Pua in the PAC.

Actually, Arul Kanda has no problems facing Rafizi Ramli in a debate because in their younger days they have, in fact, debated one another. And Arul Kanda has high regards for Rafizi Ramli. The issue, however, is that it was Tony Pua who threw the challenge and not Rafizi Ramli or Pakatan Harapan.

Arul Kanda still wants to debate Tony Pua and will not shy away from it but the Parliament Speaker must allow him to do so without disqualifying him as a witness in the future inquiry or hearing by the PAC. Just as Tony Pua insists he has every right to question 1MDB in the PAC hearing, Arul Kanda believes he also has every right to defend 1MDB in that hearing.

In short, Arul Kanda wants to debate Tony Pua and still continue to be a witness in the PAC hearing and he hopes the Speaker will consent to that.

As for the ten questions that Tony Pua posted in his Blog, Arul Kanda said he would answer all those questions, either in the proposed debate, if the Speaker will allow that, or in the PAC hearing itself.

So there you have it. Arul Kanda is still prepared to debate Tony Pua and he has suggested ways in how it can be done. So Tony Pua can still debate Arul Kanda, and instead of asking Rafizi Ramli to replace him (Tony Pua) in the debate, Rafizi Ramli can replace him in the PAC.

No doubt there is now one more factor that did not exist in the last 11 general elections — and that is PAS now has a competitor for the 'Muslim vote' in the form of PAN. But we are yet to see whether PAN is a serious competitor or just another washout like the other two PAS breakaway parties before this — HAMIM and BERJASA. This is the comment that David Lee posted in my article The Pakatan Harapan-MACC unholy alliance.

Don’t be so stupid of your comment Raja Petra, we cannot keep on condemning people unless they refuse to improve for the betterment of the country. What the opposite did was right and should the people have improved or changed or had realised what they had done was wrong then it was a right decision to give them a chance to give the best to the beloved country.

For instance like PAS, the Chinese gave them a chance in 2008 & 2013 election after the party had made a changed for a betterment of this country, the Chinese have withdrawn their support after Hadi Awang betraying his partners in Pakatan Rakyat not because they want to change to a new partner (Party Amanah).

Well, that was David Lee's analysis of the political situation in Malaysia in general and regarding PAS in particular. And his analysis is: the Chinese gave PAS a chance in the 2008 and 2013 general elections because the party 'had changed for the betterment of the country' but now that PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang has 'betrayed his partners in Pakatan Rakyat' the Chinese have withdrawn their support.

That is a very general and very vague statement but I chose to publish it anyway and will now comment on it because that statement reflects the view of quite a number of Chinese. Therefore you can, in a way, say that David Lee is 'speaking on behalf' of many, if not the majority, of the Chinese.

I am not sure in what way 'PAS changed for the betterment of the country', as David Lee said, because he did not explain. Does he mean in the past (before 2008) PAS was propagating the concept of an Islamic State and aspired to implement the Islamic Sharia law of Hudud while in 2008 and 2013 they had declared they were abandoning those aspirations?

PAS passed the Sharia Amendment Bill to implement Hudud laws in the Kelantan State Assembly in 1993 and in the Terengganu State Assembly in 2002. No doubt PAS was no longer in power in Terengganu in 2008 and 2013 (Umno was and still is) but the party was still in power in Kelantan in 2008 and 2013.

Did PAS withdraw that Sharia Amendment Bill in Kelantan in 2008 or 2013? That Bill was still on the books so PAS never said it was abandoning Hudud. And the current controversy is regarding the Bill that PAS passed in the Kelantan State Assembly in 1993. It is not a new Bill. It is an amendment to the amendment of 1993.

So if David Lee is talking about Hudud then what 'change for the betterment' is he talking about? There is no change from 1993 right up to 2008 and 2013 (20 years later), and right up to now. It is still business as usual for PAS.

Now, one thing that must be noted is that both Their Royal Highnesses the Sultans of Kelantan and Terengganu have signed those Bills. That means both Bills have met with royal consent. Is David Lee (and the rest of the Chinese) saying that the Sultans of Kelantan and Terengganu are wrong?

So, are David Lee and the Chinese who, as he said, have abandoned PAS actually hitting out at PAS or are they hitting out at the Sultans of Kelantan and Terengganu? If they are really upset about the matter then they should organise an anti-Sultan campaign (those who signed their consent to the Sharia Amendment Bills) rather than embark upon an anti-PAS or anti-Hadi campaign.

If, however, David Lee is talking about the 'Kajang Move', that move was a unilateral decision by PKR and not a bilateral decision by Pakatan Rakyat (although the Selangor government was a Pakatan Rakyat government and not a PKR government).

The Kajang Move was NOT a Pakatan Rakyat decision. It was a PKR decision, which later got the support of DAP (although in the beginning it did not). Did Anwar Ibrahim not say that Pakatan Rakyat works on the basis of consensus and that if there is no consensus then they will agree to disagree?

So tell me, David Lee, in what way did Hadi stab his Pakatan Rakyat partners in the back?

David Lee goes on to say that the Chinese have now withdrawn support for PAS. In 2008 and 2013 the Chinese supported PAS. Now the Chinese no longer support PAS. So that means, what David Lee is saying, PAS did well in 2008 and 2013 but did not do well before that and is no longer going to do well in future because the Chinese were not and will no longer be supporting PAS.

Maybe David Lee is overrating the power of the Chinese vote and thinks that without the Chinese vote PAS is dead meat. Well, then let us analyse the results of the 11 general elections from 1969 to 2013.

In the 1969 general election, PAS won 12 seats in the Malay heartland while DAP won 13 seats in the Chinese areas. It was an almost 50-50 situation.

In the 1974 general election (after the creation of Barisan Nasional and with PAS as one of the coalition members), PAS won 13 seats in the Malay heartland while DAP won only 9 seats in the Chinese areas (4 seats less than in 1969). So PAS did better than DAP (an opposition party) but won only one extra seat as a member of Barisan Nasional.

PAS then left Barisan Nasional and went back to being an opposition party and, in the 1978 general election, PAS won 5 seats in the Malay heartland while DAP won 16 seats in the Chinese areas (a slide for PAS and an improvement for DAP).

In 1981 Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad took over as Prime Minister and in the 1982 general election (the year Anwar Ibrahim abandoned PAS and joined Umno), PAS, again, won 5 seats in the Malay heartland (same as in 1978) while DAP won 9 seats in the Chinese areas (back to what it was in 1974).

The 'turning point' was in the 1986 general election when PAS won only 1 seat while DAP shot up to 24 seats.

Then Umno broke up and the Umno splinter party, Semangat 46, was formed. In the 1990 general election that followed the Umno breakup, PAS won 7 seats in the Malay heartland with Semangat 46 winning 8 (total 15) while DAP won 20 seats in the Chinese areas.

In the 1995 general election, PAS retained it 7 seats in the Malay heartland, Semangat 46 dropped to 6 seats, while DAP dropped to 9 seats (from 20) in the Chinese areas.

Then Anwar Ibrahim was sacked from Umno and was sent to jail. PKR was formed as yet another Umno splinter party (by then Semangat 46 had been dissolved) and for the first time a formal opposition coalition, Barisan Alternatif, was formed.

In the 1999 general election that same year, PAS won 27 seats in the Malay heartland, PKR (then called PKN) won 5 seats, while DAP won only 10 seats in the Chinese areas. PAS, because of its majority, became the Opposition Leader in Parliament.

In the 2004 general election (with DAP no longer a member of Barisan Alternatif), PAS dropped to 7 seats in the Malay heartland, PKR almost got wiped out with only 1 seat, while DAP won 12 seats (an improvement of 2 seats) in the Chinese areas.

And now we come to the 'historic'2008 general election after the creation of Pakatan Rakyat. In that general election PAS won 23 seats, PKR won 31 seats, while DAP won 28 seats. PKR took over as the new Opposition Leader in parliament.

The best ever for DAP was, of course, in the 2013 general election. In that general election PAS won 21 seats, PKR won 30 seats, while DAP won 38 seats. PAS and PKR saw only a slight drop of two and one seat respectively while DAP saw an impressive increase of an additional 10 seats.

So, in short, only DAP made gains in the 2013 general election while PAS and PKR did not benefit from the association. They actually saw a drop in 2013 compared to 2008.

Therefore it is a fallacy that PAS depends on the Chinese vote and that without the Chinese vote PAS is dead meat. The result of the last 11 general elections speaks for themselves.

Media statement by Arul Kanda Kandasamy,

I refer to the recent ruling by Dewan Rakyat Speaker YB Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia on YB Tony Pua’s challenge to debate me on "live" television. I have the utmost respect for the Speaker and his wisdom to safeguard the integrity of the august House and proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

YB Tony Pua challenged me to a "live" televised debate on 29 October 2015. On the same day, I accepted YB Tony Pua’s challenge with one condition – “In order to maintain the integrity of the PAC’s investigation, and to avoid any conflict of interest, YB Tony Pua must first resign from the PAC”. When YB Tony Pua lacked the courage to do the right thing and resign from the PAC, on 31 October 2015, I withdrew the condition. I accepted his challenge with zero conditions as YB Tony Pua has made so many wrong allegations about 1MDB and me personally, that I wanted to publicly debate with and correct him.

YB Tony Pua has now confirmed he will not resign from the PAC and that he will no longer debate me. He has chosen to hide behind his PAC membership, to run away from a showdown he aggressively harassed me to accept, which I agreed to with zero conditions.

In hindsight, I suspect YB Tony Pua’s challenge was more politically motivated than a desire for the truth to prevail. As a two-term MP, surely he is well versed in Parliamentary procedures and knew all along, that the debate could not take place.

I note that YB Tony Pua’s coalition has now offered YB Rafizi Ramli as replacement debater. The obvious question is why doesn’t YB Rafizi Ramli replace YB Tony Pua in the PAC, so that YB Tony Pua can debate me? It was specifically YB Tony Pua who challenged me. He made it personal, and used mocking words like “I will not punch him”, “my allegations”, “embarrassing me”, etc.

YB Tony Pua issued the debate challenge and I accepted, with no conditions. There was never any question of debate with Pakatan Harapan, which has now appeared out of nowhere, in a desperate and last-minute attempt, to save YB Tony Pua from embarrassment. These are clearly political games which I, as a professional, will not be drawn into.

I respect YB Rafizi Ramli as a worthy opponent. He is a good debater, orator and gentleman. I enjoyed sparring with him in our younger days. However, the Speaker is the ultimate authority on all matters relating to Parliament. He has made his ruling on my responsibility as a PAC witness and that any debate should only take place after the PAC hearings.

As for the 10 questions that YB Tony Pua allegedly wanted to raise in the debate, I hereby confirm that 1MDB will respond to these questions, at the appropriate time and in the appropriate forum, including a lawful authority such as the PAC.

1MDB reiterates our readiness to appear in front of the PAC. In the meantime, my team and I remain focused and committed to implementing the 1MDB rationalisation plan.

(Malay Mail Online) – Pakatan Harapan announced today PKR’s Rafizi Ramli will replace DAP's Tony Pua to debate the issues surrounding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) with the state-owned investment company's president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.

DAP’s parliamentary whip Anthony Loke made the announcement in a press conference at the Parliament lobby here after getting approval from the Pakatan Harapan presidential council last night.

"Pakatan Harapan has offered Rafizi Ramli to replace Tony Pua in the debate with Arul Kanda. We hope that this debate can be aired live on television," he told reporters.

The Seremban MP said Pakatan Harapan also would be consulting Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak to ask for Rafizi's debate with Arul Kanda to be aired live.

"Even though the minister said yesterday that the RTM offer is off because Pua is not able to debate, we have announced Rafizi as the replacement. We hope Salleh can continue the slot in RTM.

"We are prepared to meet him and discuss the details and arrangement to ensure the debate happens through RTM," Loke said, adding that if RTM refuses the offer would be open to other television stations.

Rafizi meanwhile urged Arul Kanda to accept the challenge as it would show the corporate man's skills as a debater on a topic of national interest.

"Frankly speaking I don’t think there is any way out for  Arul. Arul has to come and explain. I hope he can explain a lot better than most of the ministers so far.

"This is his best opportunity to put his side of the story. He has all the information we don’t. To begin with he has all the advantages compared to us. So I don’t see any reason for a supposedly good debater to miss a chance for a show like this," the Pandan MP said.

Rafizi also said he would be getting help from Pua to prepare for his debate.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia had earlier this week disallowed the debate between Pua from debating Arul Kanda as it might taint the PAC's ongoing probe on 1MDB.

When approached by reporters outside Parliament's lobby here today, PAC chief Datuk Hasan Arifin said he would still have to check with the Speaker first on Arul Kanda's position as a witness in the panel's investigation.

"According to Speaker, we don’t have power to stop him," Hasan said of Arul Kanda.

Pandikar had yesterday said he had no power to impose any order on non-PAC members, including Arul Kanda.

"Whether it jeopardises or not, I will refer to Speaker on what is it first," Hasan said.

The Rompin MP added that he would releasing an official statement on the matter next week after the Deepavali break.

(Malay Mail Online) – SRC International today urged the Attorney-General (AG) to investigate the source of leaked documents from the state-owned firm used in reports suggesting misappropriation of RM4 billion from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP).

The former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd also suggested that the unauthorised release may be coming from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that is investigating the firm.

"While SRC holds the MACC in high regard, we are concerned about the recent wave of leakages or possible sale of classified information to members of the media and irresponsible, self-interested politicians.

"This appears to be part of a deliberate and concentrated campaign to undermine state-linked companies and, by extension, the government," the firm said in a statement today.

It added that MACC officers should not allow their personal politics influence their decision.

The firm then appeared to convey that it will not co-operate "fully" with the MACC in its probe on how SRC International utilised the RM4 billion loan from KWAP, until the AG investigates and identifies the source of the leaks.

"Upon the completion of this investigation by the Attorney-General, we will fully cooperate with MACC or any other lawful authorities with respect to any enquiries," it said further.

The MACC and SRC International have engaged in public exchanges over the investigation of the firm.

On October 20, the anti-corruption agency reprimanded the firm for failing to cooperate with its investigations, after two SRC directors failed to turn up for questioning.

The following day, SRC International issued a press release categorising the MACC as denying the authenticity of leaked documents — a draft charge sheet against the prime minister and a diagram purportedly showing SRC funds being channelled into his accounts — purportedly from the probe and reported by two news outlets.

This prompted MACC to again reproach SRC International, warning the firm not to make further mention of the commission in any of its press releases. It also denied issuing any statement on the two documents.

The MACC is currently investigating SRC International over its RM4 billion loan from KWAP.

On August 22, the agency said it was seeking the of three individuals for its probe, namely billionaire businessman Low Taek Jho as well as SRC directors Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and Datuk Suboh Md Yassin.

Since then, Low's representative has reportedly said that the businessman will cooperate with the MACC.

1. Further to our statement dated 21 October 2015, SRC International would like to emphasise that the entire RM4 billion we have loaned from KWAP on normal commercial terms is fully accounted for in our balance sheet, in accordance with standard accounting and governance practices.  We are therefore dismayed that MalaysiaKini and foreign controlled blog Sarawak Report published fabricated materials with malicious intent to suggest that these funds have been misappropriated.

2. While SRC holds the MACC in high regard, we are concerned about the recent wave of leakages or possible sale of classified information to members of the media and irresponsible, self-interested politicians.  This appears to be part of a deliberate and concentrated campaign to undermine state-linked companies and, by extension, the Government.  We recognise that, as in any organisation, people are likely to have strong personal views or political inclinations.  However, these must not be allowed to affect their impartiality in performing official duties.

3. Our business interests have already been negatively impacted due to these leakages and, as a company that is focused solely on generating value, we do not wish to be either a victim or a scapegoat in what appears to be a politically motivated campaign.

4. As with any company, SRC has a duty to protect its interests, which includes safeguarding confidential business information.  We therefore request that the Attorney General initiates an independent investigation to identify those responsible for the leakages or possible sale of classified information, involving agenda-driven politicians and/or corrupt officers.

5. We hope that this will identify and help clear any potential conflicts of interest and underhand activities taking place.  Upon the completion of this investigation by the Attorney General, we will fully cooperate with MACC or any other lawful authorities with respect to any enquiries.

(The Star) – A no confidence motion against the Prime Minister has been slotted in the Dewan Rakyat order paper.

The motion filed by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (pic) is the 31st and last item in the orders of the day and motions for today.

However, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has yet to decide on whether to allow the motion to go through.

In practice, the Dewan also need to finish all orders of the day on the same day of meeting and the orders can also be amended.

The motion reads: “That this House has no confidence in Yang Amat Berhormat Pekan Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as Prime Minister of Malaysia.”

The motion was submitted in October at the office of Pandikar Amin.

The  previous motion of no confidence was submitted by Hee Loy Sian (PKR-Petaling Jaya Selatan). The motion is also slotted for number 27 in the Order Paper.

However, Pakatan Harapan had collectively agreed that it would be Dr Wan Azizah who would table the motion.

(The Malaysian Insider) – Putrajaya has confirmed today that there are activities aimed at toppling the current Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government viewed seriously attempts by any parties that conspired to bring down the elected government in an undemocratic way, which was illegal.

He said the government was aware that such illegal efforts would affect the nation’s economy.

“In this matter, the government has detected there are activities to topple the government without going through democratic process.

“However, evidence of the existence of such activities cannot be revealed due to security reasons and the police is still accumulating detailed information related to this,” he told Nasrudin Hassan (PAS-Temerloh) in a parliamentary written reply.

Gani chose to appear as defender of an "anti-terrorism" law introduced and now abused by the government, and he studiously and pointedly refused to comment on the abuse.

On Tuesday, I was saddened by what I saw of Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, who was recently evicted from the office of Attorney-General.

Despite years of dedicated service to his political masters, Gani was escorted out of the office and was denied the traditional send-off by colleagues.

I admire Gani's service like I admire guide dogs for the blind. Guide dogs show blind devotion even to abusive masters. They nobly disregard the moral characters of their masters. They give their masters the benefit of the doubt and remain loyal.

There is, however, an important difference between Gani and guide dogs. One might say that Gani has more skeletons in his closet than there are in a cemetery.

It reminded me that Gani was removed "for health reasons".  Yet Gani, probably because of the skeletons, hasn't challenged his erstwhile masters.

There is an established procedure for removing someone from service on health grounds. A person so removed is commonly said to be "medically boarded out".

It is not easy to medically board out a person. A person can only be medically boarded out if a duly established board of medical doctors agrees he can neither perform the duties of his current position, nor lighter duties.

Three decades ago, as a rookie supervisor, I learnt that the operative principles for boarding out a person on health grounds were crystallised in 1976 by Justice Philips. The judge wrote in Spencer vs. Paragon Wallpapers Ltd:

"The basic question which has to be determined in every case is whether, in all the circumstances, the employer can be expected to wait any longer and, if so, how much longer?

"Relevant circumstances include the nature of the illness, the likely length of the continuing absence, the need of the employers to have done the work which the employee was engaged to do."

On Tuesday, Gani looked to be in glowing health. When asked how he was, he said he was fine and leading an active life.

He said he continued to receive the same treatment regime he had been receiving for some time (before his ejection), at the same frequency.

When he delivered his talk and when he responded to questions, he displayed a sharp, alert mind. Does that sound like a candidate for boarding out? If he is so well, why was I saddened by Gani?

I was saddened because I saw wiliness more than passion for justice, more commonly known as activism.

Gani's first public appearance after his eviction was in an event organised by the Bar Council. It was a public meeting with lawyers and law students comprising the majority in the audience.

It was deliciously titled “Sosma: Wolf in sheep's clothing”.

If the law of the jungle dictates the right to rule on physical strength, democracy dictates the same on the strength of numbers. The end result is the same, namely, the trampling of minority rights.

We have to admit it. That democracy is a flawed system within a bigger political pool consisting of systems which are even more flawed is a fact. That we live within a flawed system out of necessity or the lack of a better alternative – as all the other systems are thought to be worse – is disconcerting, to say the least.

The core of democracy is representation. It is a system of governance where the people are represented by representatives who are elected by the people. These representatives then form a government. The government then governs the people. A state is then formed, consisting of the government and the people it governs.

In theory, therefore, the people are actually governing themselves. The representatives, who are elected by the people, are the voice of the people. The state therefore is the manifestation of the people's wishes and desires, expressed through the government, which consists of the representatives chosen and elected by the people. Abraham Lincoln, in his famed Gettysburg address, thus aptly described his government as "a government of the people, by the people and for the people."

Karl Marx has his utopia, which is a nation where the people work as one towards achieving a common desire. Where individualism and individualistic needs and objectives are suppressed all in the name of the one and only desire, namely the desire of the state, the one state, so to speak. Utopia is therefore not unlike an ant colony. Or a bee colony. But Marx forgets that the suppression of individualism and individualistic needs and objectives is a denial, and in fact is a transgression, of liberty, which the state is supposed to protect in the first place. How can liberty be protected by mass suppression?

The obvious flaw in Marx's theory of a utopian society makes democracy an alluring alternative. If at all, it pushes to the fore the false notion that liberty is the product of democracy, when in fact democracy is just but one of the many (flawed) ways of protecting liberty. Liberty is not caused by democracy. It is, rather, the cause for democracy.

That brings us to some sobering thoughts. Can liberty be usurped by democracy? Is it possible for a democracy to destroy liberty in itself? In that event, what will happen to democracy? Can it exist without liberty?

At the end of the day it is the same whether in business or in politics. Behind the Malay is a Chinaman who calls the shots and who uses the Malay to do its dirty work.

The recently retired MACC deputy commissioner, Zakaria Jaafar, said he was happy that the approval rating or the level of public confidence in the commission had risen from 39% in 2009 to 68% in 2014. "We wanted to know the public's confidence levels in us so we carried out a survey, and at that time it was only at 39%. That really shocked us. But it increased to 68% and our target for 2015 is 70%," said Zakaria.

One very crucial point that Zakaria did not mention, and which is a very important point, is that MACC was suffering from a crisis of confidence because the opposition was constantly attacking it day in and day out non-stop. Hence there was no way MACC could improve its rating until and unless the opposition stops attacking it and starts singing its praises.

And that was when MACC thought it would be best to sit down with the opposition and try to hammer out an alliance of sorts. MACC will assist the opposition if the opposition will stop attacking MACC.

The opposition realised it was lacking one very crucial weapon. While the ruling party had the Special Branch to act as its intelligence agency, the opposition had nothing. Hence if MACC is now offering to be the intelligence arm of the opposition and if all the opposition has to do is to stop attacking MACC then that would be absolutely perfect. It would be a win-win situation and a marriage made in heaven.

MACC has unlimited power and resources. They can raid your home and office and confiscate whatever they find there. They can bug your home, office and telephone and even place cameras to record all your secrets. Hell, they even do that to their own officers who are suspected of wrongdoing. So MACC as your ally is worth its weight in gold.

The fact that MACC was the opposition's number one enemy and now is its partner-in-crime is a non-issue. The opposition has entered in many unholy alliances before this so one more is of no consequence. For example, The Star is now serving DAP while its salary is paid by MCA (and before this DAP used to condemn The Star like there was no tomorrow).

And remember how the opposition used to condemn Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and called him the Great Pharaoh (Mahafiraun) and said that once the opposition takes over they are going to throw him into jail and throw away the key?

The opposition used to condemn Anwar Ibrahim as well and called him a liar and said that he should be jailed for lying to Parliament when he denied that Malaysia had lost RM30 billion in playing the money market. Now the opposition says Anwar is the only person out of 30 million Malays who is suitable enough to be the next Prime Minister.

And DAP, who used to condemn Ling Liong Sik for robbing PKFZ of billions, and who hounded Liong Sik non-stop and wanted him put in jail (and were very angry when Dr Mahathir saved him from going to jail) now want to help pay for Liong Sik's legal cost in the civil suit that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is bringing against him.

So there you have it. People who the opposition once wanted lined up against the wall and shot are now the greatest friends and allies of the opposition. Their sins have been forgotten and they have been rehabilitated. Anyone, even Hitler, can become their friend as long as they can benefit from the association.

Not one to be outdone by the National Library of Norway, the British Film Institute has discovered a lost Walt Disney film starring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Unlike Empty Socks, the short found last year in NLN’s subarctic bunker archive of nitrate films, there wasn’t even a 25-clip of Sleigh Bells known to survive. No part of Sleigh Bells has been seen since it made its original release in 1928.

The six-minute animation was found in the BFI National Archive in Berkhamsted by a researcher searching the online catalogue. He recognized the name of the film as one thought lost. The print entered the BFI archive in 1981 as part of a collection of movies from a recently shuttered Soho film studio. It was titled and dated 1931, but had no references to Disney or Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The title was generic enough to not ring any bells (pun intended) and the BFI doesn’t have the manpower to watch every one of the one million films in its archive, so it was just duly catalogued and socked away in storage.

In the movie Oswald skates and plays ice hockey on a lake accompanied by his interspecies lady friend, a cat named Ortensia who looks a little like Felix the Cat in a hat and skirt. It was drawn and animated by Ub Iwerks (Ub did all of the drawing for Disney’s early characters; Walt had limited artistic talent) and Walt Disney under contract with Universal Studios which had hired the pair to get a piece of the lucrative cartoon pie. The Oswald films were Universal’s first animated pictures and while Disney had had some success with the combination of live action and animation in the Alice Comedies series, Oswald was his first big hit.

Unfortunately for Disney, Oswald wasn’t really his, not by law. He belonged to Universal and once the character proved to be a success, Charles Mintz, the producer of the Oswald pictures, wasted no time in planning Disney’s ouster. He stealthily poached all of Disney’s employees except for Ub Iwerks who was loyal to Walt and refused the job offer. Iwerks warned Disney of Mintz’s machinations but Disney handwaved away his concerns. It was only in the spring of 1928 when Disney went to New York to renegotiate his contract that he finally realized Iwerks was right. Not only was Mintz not offering to increase Disney’s take on the popular cartoons, he told him he had to make more films for 20% less money. Mintz had no need to accommodate him since he had an experienced Oswald team ready to go without Disney.

Walt and Ub walked away and were all the better for it since the next idea they came up with was Mickey Mouse. Mintz’s production company took over making Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons for Universal until karma struck. The next year, Universal president Carl Laemmle fired the Mintz-Winkler studio and handed Oswald to Walter Lantz, a director Mintz had hired. Lantz produced Oswald cartoons until 1943 when the character was all but retired. He would go on to invent Woody Woodpecker.

In 2006, the Walt Disney company reacquired the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit property from NBC Universal. They were delighted, therefore, at the rediscovery of Sleigh Bells. Walt Disney Animation Studios restored the print and made a new film print of it as well as digital copies. The restored cartoon will be screened for the first time at BFI Southbank on December 12th, 2015, as part of It’s A Disney Christmas: Seasonal Shorts, a program of holiday-themed films from the late 1920s to the present.

Conservative MPs will be regrouping today after losing the election and forming the official opposition. There will be some “soul searching” and “a lot of sadness,” says former PMO deputy chief of staff Keith Beardsley.

“I expect some soul searching and simply a lot of sadness as good friends and co-workers say their goodbyes. Everyone there will want to turn the page on a difficult chapter and move on,” Mr. Beardsley told The Hill Times.

New legislation establishes three-year minimum sentence and will also punish parents of children convicted of offence.

Clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians have been growing and spreading throughout the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem

Israel has passed an amendment to the country’s civil law establishing a minimum prison sentence of three years for people who throw rocks at Israeli troops, civilians or vehicles.

Passed late on Monday night by a vote of 51-17, the legislation includes a number of provisions, among them one that permits the government to strip those convicted of stone throwing of their state benefits.

In effect, the move will further entrench Israeli civil law in occupied East Jerusalem, according to rights groups.

Palestinians in the rest of the occupied West Bank, however, are subject to Israeli military law.

The law also enables Israel to cancel national health insurance and other social programmes for the parents of an imprisoned minor.

Rima Awad, a member of the Campaign for Jerusalem, a Palestinian rights group, said that Israel is “collectively punishing” Palestinian Jerusalemites.

“The families of the accused are also being punished,” Awad told Al Jazeera.

‘Extraordinary step’

“Setting minimum sentences is an extraordinary step,” the law’s preface reads. “But the uniqueness of the phenomenon [of rock-throwing] and its scale, which have expanded of late, justify as an extraordinary measure the establishment of minimum punishments in this case as a temporary provision.”

The move comes on the heels of widespread unrest, as an increase in Palestinian protests against Israel’s ongoing occupation have given way to frequent clashes across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the besieged Gaza Strip.

As the unrest spreads, Israeli forces have responded with force, using live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas and stun grenades.

Since October 1, Israeli forces or settlers have killed at least 73 Palestinians, including unarmed protesters, bystanders and accused attackers.

Meanwhile, nine Israelis have been killed by Palestinians in stabbing or shooting incidents in the same period.

The new law is one of a series of measures aiming to quell the protests.

More than 1,600 Palestinians – an estimated 60 percent of them minors – have been arrested since the beginning of last month, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

A large number of those arrests are for allegedly throwing rocks.

Arguing in favour of the law, Israeli legislator Nissan Slomiansky – a member of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party – said it is designed “to create deterrence”, local media reported.

Children vulnerable

Ayed Abu Qtaish, advocacy director for Defence for Children International (DCI) – Palestine, said the legislation will have “an even more harmful effect” on Palestinian children, who are often “detained arbitrarily” or arrested without reliable evidence of accusations.

According to DCI-Palestine’s statistics, at least 53 percent of Palestinian children in East Jerusalem arrested by Israeli forces are subjected to violence, while 86 percent are coerced into signing confessions in Hebrew, a language they do not know.

“These laws affect children more than others because they are a vulnerable segment of the population,” Abu Qtaish told Al Jazeera.

“Additionally, Palestinians in an occupied territory should not be included under Israel’s civil law.”

Abu Qtaish said there is a “double standard at play”, arguing that Israelis, including settlers and children, “throw rocks at Palestinians and other people” without being arrested at similar rates.

The law will also effect the estimated 1.7 million Palestinians who carry Israeli citizenship and live in areas across the country.

Jamal Zahalka, a Knesset member from the Arab-majority Joint List electoral coalition, decried the law as “fuel on the fire”.

“There is no logic to punishing a father whose son threw a stone and didn’t hit anything, while the father of a child who stabs his friend in school goes unpunished.”

The man is one of the over 2,600 Palestinians injured in the ongoing violence in Israel and Palestine that started early last month and shows no sign of abating.

The arrest and subsequent beating og Omar Farouk Obaideya, a teaching assistant in the Physics Department at Birzeit University.

SEATTLE — Israeli police stopped a young Palestinian man on a Jerusalem street on Monday. In a video apparently shot by Israeli Jews at the scene, the police yell at the suspect to drop his pants. The man does not comply, but instead lifts his shirt and turns around to assure them he is not carrying a weapon or wearing a suicide vest. Unsatisfied with this gesture, police continue demanding that he disrobe.

A short standoff ensues as he refuses to remove his pants. Less than a minute passes before police surround the man and rush him. They begin beating him.

Then the video cuts to the victim lying on the ground with blood splattered on the floor and wall around him. An officer is sitting on top of him though he is handcuffed and makes no attempt to move.

The police notice someone is filming the events as they unfold, and they allow the filming to continue. (It's worth noting that Palestinian journalists working in similar circumstances are assaulted and shot at by Israeli forces. And while the filming appears to be the work of Israelis, the video has been widely uploaded by Palestinians to social media.)

With the man held on the ground, police strip him down to his underwear. Police ask each other if anyone's found a knife. They search the man's bag, but don't find a knife.

The lead officer stands above the victim and under the guise of "reconstructing" the event, clearly manufactures a fictional scenario contradicted by the actual video (translation and captions provided by Israeli activist Ronnie Barkan):

"I'm for reconstructing [the event] …

He ran away to here; resisted [arrest];

We told him 'raise' [your hands/shirt] …  

Ran from where?

Opened someone's … He opened some woman's head there;

We stopped in front of him;

We asked him to raise his shirt; He refused.

Attempted to assault an officer;

Arrest.

Who saw the attack [on the woman]?

Citizens."

At the end of the video, the Israelis who filmed it begin calling the victim a "son of a bitch" in Arabic. Then they joke, seemingly proud that they filmed the beating of a Palestinian. Laughing derisively, one of them says: "We organized some incident for you, huh?"

The Zuckerberg intifada

Israeli leaders have identified a convenient scapegoat for what some are calling a "Third Intifada," or popular uprising: Mark Zuckerberg. The Israeli lawfare NGO Shurat HaDin is suing Facebook, blaming the social media network for permitting young Palestinians to communicate with each other and coordinate their resistance.

"Suing Facebook, Disconnect from Terror"

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu even invoked the Facebook CEO's name in laying blame for the violence:

"What has been going on is due to the combination of the Internet and Islamist extremism," Netanyahu said. "It has been Osama Bin Laden meets [Facebook founder] Mark Zuckerberg."

The Shin Bet, Israel's internal security agency, is playing its role in this charade by arresting Palestinian youth for their posts to Facebook and treating them as if they'd committed violent crimes.

The latest victim, according to an Israeli human rights activist, is Dareen Tatour, who has been held in jail since Oct. 10. On Monday, she was indicted for "incitement" and "supporting a terrorist organization." Her incitement consisted of reciting a poem, "Resist, My People, Resist," as the voice track of a YouTube videowhich pictures Palestinians burning tires, being harassed by police, waving Palestinian flags, and throwing stones.

The poem that apparently constitutes a criminal act if read aloud includes the following words:

"I refuse the 'peaceful solution' [the Oslo process]
I will never lower my flag
I will pull them away from my land
And the future will see it.
Resist O my people resist them
Resist the tyranny of the settler …..
Follow the convoy of martyrs
Tear the shameful agreements
Of oppression and humiliation."

Ironically, the Israeli right views the Oslo agreements with equal disdain, yet no Israeli is arrested for expressing such displeasure. According to this double standard, Palestinians who express virtually the same political views as Israelis are criminals and terrorists for doing so.

Tatour also posted a picture of the Israeli Palestinian woman shot and seriously wounded by Israeli police at the Afula bus station last month. It doesn't matter that Isra'a Abed, the Afula victim, has been cleared by the same Israeli security officials of any criminal intent.

The Zionist version of a moral apartheid

Israel's Justice Minister, Ayelet Shaked, who famously stated: "This is a war against two people, not a war on terror, Israel must slaughter all Palestinian mothers who give birth to "little snakes."

Israel's Knesset has been increasinglyclamping down on human rights NGOs, who are viewed as collaborating with "foreigners" intent on charging the Israeli military with war crimes. Former foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman has in the past demanded that NGOs receiving funds from foreign foundations be forced to reveal their sources publicly. Right-wing NGOs, which also receive foreign funding, often refuse to disclose their funding sources. Presumably, if this legislation passed some sort of loophole would be offered to groups like NGO Monitor and others which maintain secret donor lists.

Ayelet Shaked, the justice minister,proposed legislation on Sunday which would require any NGO staff member visiting the Knesset to wear a "tag" that identifies them as recipients of foreign funding. It's part of what Shaked calls a "Transparency Law" that permits Israelis to see the origin of funding for groups which allegedly betray the state.

Writing for AL Monitor, Mazal Mualem calls it "a 'mark of Cain' of sorts, a far more appropriate name for [Shaked's] proposed piece of populist legislation could be the 'Selection Law,' a reference to the way Jews were marked to distinguish them from other Europeans during World War II in Nazi camps."

In the brave new world offered by the Israel's right-wing government people are either good or bad, friends or enemies, Israelis or Palestinians, Israelis or foreigners. The bad guys are clearly labelled so that there can be no mistaking them for the good guys. This is a Zionist version of moral apartheid.

Shaked's proposal would be ridiculous if it didn't rear its ugly head in the context of the enormous level of hate and violence which besets Israel these days.

The Saudi government is preparing a draft bill which, if ratified by king Salman, will permit the Jewish state sending claims for compensation for historic Jewish property in a number of Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Yemen. It is believed that the bill will be held back to be used during any secret negotiations discussing the ways to promote bilateral relation between Tel Aviv and its close ally Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

"Saudi will Compensate for Ancient Jewish in Arab Lands though there is No Room for Non-Muslims in Arabia,” Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) cited the Saudi monarch as saying on Tuesday.

Despite this historic rapprochement between Arabs and Jewish people, the Saudi monarch reiterated that there is no place for non-Sunni Muslims in a land which according to him, Prophet Muhammad called it "the pure Islamic territory".

The bill is divided into two parts: the first will demand that Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Morocco, Yemen and Bahrain pay compensation for the properties of approximately 2,000,000 Jews who lived around 640 A.D., with an estimated value of $900 billion.

At a second stage, Saudi Arabia will be landed with a compensation bill of more than $650 billion for Jewish properties in the kingdom since the time of Prophet Mohammed.

Saudi Arabia once hosted a thriving Jewish community. For almost a thousand years (three times longer than the Jews have been in America), Jews lived in the oases of Teyma, and Yathrib (later known as Medina), in the northern Arabian Peninsula. According to Dr. Hagai Mazuz, an Orientalist specializing in Arabic language, Islam, and Islamic culture, "The Jewish community of northern Arabia was one of the largest ancient communities in the history of the Jewish people."

They were powerful and wealthy. They were respected by the local Arabian tribes for their religion, culture, erudition, and literacy. They built castles on mountaintops and developed productive plantations. They had military prowess, horses, and advanced weaponry. And they were almost totally annihilated in the short span of a few years.

Apparently, Israeli experts in international law, history and geography in the universities of Bar-Ilan, Beer Sheva, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa are working on this part of the claim. The budget for their work has been taken from the Foreign Ministry and is claimed to be in the region of $100m for 2012.

Two international human rights defenders were arrested in Hebron (al-Khalil) yesterday morning, November 3^rd, while six others were ordered to leave an apartment in the H2 neighbourhood of Tel Rumeida by threat of arrest.

The German and American nationals were arrested at 7.50am while monitoring checkpoint 56 at the entrance of Shuhada Street, after being seemingly arbitrarily denied access to checkpoint 55 further down the street. They were arrested while peacefully observing the checkpoint on allegations of 'disturbing soldiers' and being in a closed military zone after a soldier at the checkpoint made a complaint to officers in a passing police vehicle.

The internationals were denied their legal right to communicate with their embassies, and were only given water to drink at the police station after repeated requests. 'We were scared about what was going to happen, but we were still so much better off than the Palestinian we heard being beaten by Israeli forces in the police station' one of the women announced. They were released at 4.30pm, on agreeing to sign conditions barring them from Hebron for one week. Immediately before being released from the police station, the investigating officer actually admitted that there was 'no evidence' against them, but they were still being punished for the soldiers allegations.

Several hours later, other members of the team were prevented from passing through Checkpoint 56 which divides Tel Rumeida from the H1 area of Hebron, which is under full Palestinian authority. As of Saturday, 31^st of October, when Tel Rumeida was declared a 'closed military zone' for 24 hours, both internationals' and Palestinian movement through the area has been severely restricted. Residents were ordered to register their ID's or risk being prevented from passing the checkpoints which intersect the entire district.

While official documentation of the zoning of Tel Rumeida has been conspicuously inconsistent recently, the activists were shocked this afternoon when their passports were confiscated and they were confronted with an order to leave the closed military zone which encapsulates their apartment. Israeli forces demanded that they immediately sign an absent legal contract declaring their residency in the area, or they would be forcibly removed and deported.

Checkpoint 55 is frequented by students from several school groups, who pass it on route to and from schools which abut the Tel Rumeida illegal settlement. It was blocked for passage last Sunday in what soldiers described as "new measures against terrorism." For years now international agencies have been monitoring the impact of the occupation on the schoolchildren of Hebron however this work has been severely restricted in recent weeks, amid mounting tensions in the district.

A volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, a school teacher from Australia known as Phoebe, stated: "Will they never be satisfied? In the past month, Israeli forces have blatantly disregarded international law. They have performed extrajudicial executions of Palestinians in front of eyewitnesses with complete impunity." She added: "We have been physically attacked on a daily basis by settlers in front of soldiers and police and then been ordered to leave, by threat of arrest for provoking them by our presence. We have been intimidated, harassed, abused, detained, and now this: arrest for our monitoring of human rights abuses on children and eviction for our presence in a fraught neighbourhood. Our presence is lawful and we believe more essential than ever."

However, the internationals have stated their greatest concerns remain for the Palestinian residents of Tel Rumeida and the disturbing intensification of both settler violence and the physical manifestations of the occupation, including an expansion of infrastructure used to limit movement on the streets. Echoing concerns by local Palestinian residents, a Dutch volunteer stated that such measures have created an alarming sense that, "Hebron is being ghettoized." He added, "if the international community does not react to this now then the illegal settlement will surely take over all of Tel Rumeida…This is what we are most afraid of."

The internationals, from Holland, Italy, Britain, Germany, Unites States, Poland, France and Australia have vowed to return to their work of protective presence, monitoring and journalism in the district and consider this to be an appalling reflection on Israel's supposedly democratic ideals.

Fifteen Syrian families fleeing camps on the war-torn country’s borders will be given refuge on the isle of Bute

FAMILIES fleeing war-torn Syria are to be given refugee on a picturesque Scots island, as another local authority has confirmed it will take refugees.

Fifteen families will take up residence on the isle of Bute in the coming weeks, after being flown from camps in Lebanon.

They will be given assistance in securing work on the Firth of Clyde island, as well as accommodation via local housing associations.

It comes Stirling Council confirmed it will be welcoming a small number of Syrian refugees before Christmas, following a meeting attended by several hundred residents of the area.

They too will come from refugee camps bordering Syria and be resettled in Stirling, where help and support will be available from third sector groups and public sector groups.

At least 2000 Syrian refugees are expected to be given sanctuary in Scotland in the coming years, with the first due to arrive in Glasgow by the end of last month .

Following talks between local authorities, the Home Office and Scottish Government, several hundred refugees will be flown from camps in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey and accommodated in Scotland by Christmas.

Len Scoular, Provost of Argyll and Bute Council, who lives on Bute, said: "People in Argyll and Bute are known for their warmth and friendliness, as has been proved by the huge offers of support already shown in communities across the area for those seeking refuge from Syria.

“People on Bute have stepped forward to offer skills and services they have to make the families feel welcome and to help them settle in. This will be invaluable for the families who must be feeling incredibly vulnerable and confused.”

The council said the refugees coming to live on Bute had “all been matched to the area because of the skills

and work experience they have”.

It said: “The Department of Work and Pensions and Jobcentre Plus will give the refugees the same assistance in finding a job as any other unemployed person in Argyll and Bute.”

Accommodation is being provided by Argyll Community Housing Association and Fyne Homes.

Mr Scoular added: “Our families, and I already feel comfortable calling them our families, are all currently in the Lebanon and, with the agencies working overseas, we have been very careful to match their experience and skills with those in our own communities. Hopefully this should make it easier for them to find employment.”

Arrangements are being made for support for the refugees on Bute, including interpreters and help with health, education and housing services.

Alisdair Johnston, chairman of the Isle of Bute Trust, a new group set up to help boost the island’s population and economy, said: “Any reversal in the population decline is a good thing, as long as the implications of people from a very different culture coming here has been thought through it should not be a problem.

“For example, we have two butchers on the island who do not slaughter their own meat and there is a good chance that (the Syrian families) will be Muslim, so the provision of halal meat could be a problem.”

Johanna Boyd, Stirling Council leader, said the authority had been overwhelmed by the offers of support,

Stacey Burlet, Stirling’s director of communities and partnerships, said: "The success of Stirling's response will be determined by how this small number of refugees settle within the community, and the impact this has on local residents.

“These people have encountered horrendous circumstances and are in great need of support, so we want to give them time and space to integrate with neighbours and community groups once they have settled here."

Israeli forces, Wednesday afternoon, physically assaulted a Palestinian cameraman and confiscated his filming equipment near al-Jalama military checkpoint, north of Jenin.

WAFA Palestinian News & Info Agency reported on Muhammad Badarneh, who works as a reporter with Palestine TV station, as saying that while he and his colleague, Sakhr Zawatiya, who works as a cameraman, were about one kilometer far from al-Jalama checkpoint getting ready to film a report, Israeli forces assaulted them.

Badarneh and his colleague were working on a report documenting current situation of agriculture in the northern West Bank district of Jenin and conditions of Palestinian workers following the closure of the checkpoint.

Israeli soldiers reportedly assaulted Zawatiya using the butts of their riffles, shouted obscenities at him, and detained the crew for over half an hour.

They also seized two video tapes and the camera stand before threatening the crew to beat them up if they approach the checkpoint.

Badarneh noted that they have filed a complaint to the Palestinian military liaison and Joint Operations Room.

GAZA, (PIC)–  Dozens of Palestinian doctors and patients participated on Tuesday in a solidarity sit-in with children with kidney failure outside Rantisi Hospital for children.

The participants warned that the dialysis service provided for nearly 30 children with kidney failure in the hospital might stop by the end of this week, due to an acute shortage of spare filters and blood transfusion tubes.

Dr. Mustafa al-Aqila stated that halting the service will deprive 28 children of dialysis sessions, which means that they will enter into the real risk stage of the disease.

He pointed out that Hamdallah's government did not provide the hospital with the dialysis supplies since being in office one year and a half ago.

“We have warned of the consequences of reaching such a critical stage," he said, adding that they had launched urgent appeals for the provision of enough quantities of dialysis supplies and medicines for patients with renal failure, especially the children, whose weak bodies no longer bear delaying the hemodialysis sessions or the non-provision of dialysis treatment on a specified schedule.

A 17-year-old Palestinian detainee incarcerated in Israeli jails had his leg amputated as a result of severe injuries he sustained in early October, after he was shot by Israeli settlers, revealed an official.

WAFA reported on Chairman of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees committee, Issa Qaraqe, as saying that Jalal Sharawna, 17, had his right leg amputated at Assaf Harofeh hospital in Israel.

Prior to his detention, Jalal suffered severe injuries in his right leg after he was shot and injured by Israeli settlers' gunfire during clashes in the Hebron town of Dura.

Since his detention, Jalal reportedly underwent several surgeries to remove the bullets from his leg before it rotted, resulting in its amputation.

This came a day after the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) said, in a press release, that Jalal underwent leg amputation as a result of intentional medical negligence and misinformation about his medical condition by Israeli Prison Service.

PPS explained that the Israeli Prison Service had been intentionally transferring Palestinian detainees, including Jalal, from hospitals back to jails before completing their medical treatments.

PPS indicated that the premature transferring of Jalal, who needed to receive ongoing medical treatment, caused his health condition to deteriorate and his right leg to be amputated.

PPC also explained that Jalal's health condition deteriorated after he was discharged prematurely from Soroka hospital and transferred to Ramla Prison clinic.

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) Tuesday evening broke into Palestinian civilian homes in the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil and blocked Palestinians' free movement out of and into Jenin city.

Spokesperson for the local anti-settlement committee, Mohamed Awad, said an Israeli army patrol stormed three Palestinian family homes in al-Khalil's town of Beit Ummar, and wreaked havoc on the buildings.

Violent clashes flared up in al-Khalil's southwestern town of Beit Awa after the Israeli occupation troops attacked Palestinian civilians with heavy spates of tear gas canisters.

Scores of Palestinians reportedly choked on tear gas in the clashes.

Such arbitrary home break-ins make part of an Israeli policy of collective punishment aimed at cracking down on Palestinian anti-occupation activists and their families in the occupied West Bank.

The IOF stepped up its preplanned policies of collective punishment in Jenin city, closing the Jalama checkpoint and denying Palestinians living inside the Green Line the right to enter or exit Jenin on allegations of stabbing attempts.

The IOF further blocked the free movement of Palestinian shoppers and merchants in Jenin, sparking further tension across the West Bank.

In an interview with the BBC, Sisi signalled a possible softening of position towards the Muslim Brotherhood

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi suggested the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood could again play a role in public life if Egyptians wanted a return of the grouping he currently classifies as terrorist.

Sisi, who launched the toughest crackdown on Islamists in Egypt's modern history after toppling President Mohamed Mursi of the Brotherhood, was due in London on Wednesday on a visit to Britain criticised by rights campaigners.

The visit has drawn criticism from rights campaigners and some politicians, with the leader of Britain's main opposition party saying it showed "contempt for human and democratic rights".

In an interview with the BBC, Sisi signalled a possible softening of position towards the Muslim Brotherhood.

"The problem doesn't lie with the government and it doesn't lie with me. It lies with public opinion, with Egyptians. Egyptians are peaceful people and they don't like violence. They reacted against the Muslim Brotherhood and are wary of them," Sisi said in the TV interview, due to be broadcast in full on Thursday.

"This country is big enough to accommodate all of us. They are part of Egypt and so the Egyptian people must decide what role they can play."

Protest

The Brotherhood, the Middle East's oldest Islamist movement and long Egypt's main political opposition, says it is committed to peaceful activism designed to reverse what it calls a military coup, when Sisi seized power from Mursi in 2013.

Security forces killed hundreds of Mursi supporters at street protests and thousands of others were arrested.

Senior Brotherhood leaders have been sentenced to death in what human rights groups call unfair trials.

Sisi has said tough security measures were needed to protect Egypt from what he describes as terrorist attacks by militants. ISIS's Egypt affiliate has killed hundreds of soldiers and police since Mursi's ouster.

The BBC said Sisi had stressed those sentenced to death would most likely not be executed because they were convicted in absentia or due to the appeals process.

Western diplomats say the death sentences could radicalise Islamists and would amount to political suicide.

Sisi's visit to London comes soon after a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping, when critics said Britain was selling off its assets to a country with a questionable rights record.

Around 150 demonstrators gathered outside Cameron's Downing Street residence to protest against Sisi's visit.

"David Cameron, can't you see, Sisi killed democracy?" the group chanted from within a heavily-policed enclosure.

More than 50 lawmakers have signed a motion calling for the visit to be cancelled.

Cameron's spokeswoman has said "no issues will be off the table" when the two leaders meet on Thursday. But Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain's opposition Labour Party, said just welcoming Sisi "makes a mockery of government claims to be promoting peace and justice in the region".

The Egyptian leader told the BBC efforts to improve democracy in Egypt were "a work in progress" which would take time, but his people now had the right to choose their leader.

"Now a president can only serve one or maximum two terms. Never again will Egyptians be ruled against their will," he said. Egyptians have been ruled by men from the military since army officers deposed the monarchy in 1952.

"No one is oppressed in Egypt, but we are living through incredible times," Sisi said. "Egypt doesn't want to become like other countries in the region."
