Poroshenko: “..a decisive offensive to free the [eastern Ukrainian] region and a march on Moscow”

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko listed a 'march on Moscow' among the possible scenarios for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. However, he called the implementation of the Minsk agreements "the most acceptable" way out of the crisis.

In an interview with Ukrainian TV Channel 5, President Poroshenko listed three possible scenarios that could lead to the resolution of the Ukraine crisis.

The first approach to conflict resolution, was "a decisive offensive to free the [eastern Ukrainian] region and a march on Moscow,” although Poroshenko called it "irresponsible" and "foolhardy" as well as admitting the Ukrainian people did not support the move.

"The second option is to build a wall and give away part of our territory,” referring to the rebellious Donbass area in the east of the country. “We could live on without Donbass. Is this way possible? Yes, it is possible. However, I will not trade off Ukraine. I will not give the smallest peace of Ukrainian land to anyone," Poroshenko said.

He added that he would "fight for returning both annexed Crimea and the occupied Donbass territories" and would "do his best" to achieve this goal.

"The third way is to restore Ukraine's sovereignty, Ukrainian territorial authority over the [Donbass] region. And this way is called the Minsk agreements," Poroshenko said, adding no one has yet proposed any plausible alternative to this scenario.

The Ukrainian president also said the Minsk agreements envisage "withdrawal of foreign troops from Ukrainian territory"and "release of Ukrainian prisoners arrested in Russia" along with the ceasefire, withdrawal of weapons and constitutional reform.

Speaking about the reform of the constitution, the president once again emphasized the amendments he proposed would remove Article 92 of the Constitution, which gives 'special status' for individual cities, so that "there would be no 'special statuses, no parades of sovereignties.'"

He also said the constitutional reform project implies only "special local governance procedures for the Lugansk and Donetsk regions" and not "special status."

The controversial constitutional reform project has already led to an outbreak of violence in Kiev, during protests against the amendments in front of the Ukrainian parliament building on August 31. As a result of the clashes on Constitution Square between radicals, police and the Ukrainian National Guard, three people died and more than a hundred were injured.

Yemen crisis: Qatar deploys 1,000 troops

Qatar has reportedly deployed troops to Yemen for the first time, according to the Doha-based al-Jazeera news.

One-thousand ground troops, supported by armoured vehicles and helicopters, are reportedly headed for the province of Marib.

Last week, 60 soldiers from the Saudi-led coalition were killed at a base in Marib.

The missile strike by Houthi rebels killed 45 UAE, 10 Saudi and five Bahraini soldiers.

The troops died after an ammunition depot was hit in the town of Safir.

Following the attack, Emirati warplanes launched airstrikes on targets across Yemen.

The Houthi rebels described the attack as revenge for “crimes” committed by the Saudi-led coalition, which has carried out months of air strikes in Yemen.

The coalition is trying to restore the exiled president, who left as the Houthis gained control over much of the country.

The UN says some 4,500 people – including at least 2,110 civilians – have been killed in fighting on the ground and by coalition air strikes since late March.

Coalition countries are thought to have sent several thousand troops to Yemen in an effort to restore President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi to power.

They helped southern militiamen opposed to the Houthis retake the southern port city of Aden in July and have since advanced northwards.

did they get UN approval to do that or can sunni states do whatever they want much like the israelis?

Stonehenge II is found!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3224523/Stonehenge-II-Radar-search-reveals-giant-monument-4-500-years-ago-just-one-mile-famous-Wiltshire-site.html

For centuries Stonehenge has mystified and enraptured archaeologists and visitors.

So maybe it is not surprising that another monumental wonder from prehistory has been overlooked for so long – even though it is just a mile away.

Experts have discovered an ‘extraordinary’ line of giant stones that dates back more than 4,500 years.

The area around Stonehenge is littered with prehistoric sights but the 90 or more stones, lying 3ft underground, have only just been discovered by sophisticated radar equipment towed by quadbikes.

The buried monoliths are each up to 15ft tall. Instead of being arranged in a circle as they are at Stonehenge, it is thought they once formed a long standing line.

‘We’re looking at one of the largest stone monuments in Europe and it has been under our noses for something like 4,000 years,’ said Professor Vince Gaffney, from the University of Bradford, one of the archaeologists leading the research. ‘It’s truly remarkable.

‘We don’t think there’s anything quite like this anywhere else in the world. This is completely new and the scale is extraordinary.

‘We presume it to be a ritual arena of some sort. These things are theatrical… designed to impress.’

The stones were placed along the south-eastern edge of what later became the Durrington Walls ‘superhenge’ – a circular settlement ringed by a ditch and bank that, at a third of a mile across, is the largest earthwork of its kind in the UK.

Who toppled them and whether the arena was a rival attraction to Stonehenge or part of the same complex of sacred sites is unknown. They may even have been pushed over to protect their sacred significance, Professor Gaffney said.

The stones, which have not yet been excavated, are thought to be ‘sarsens’ – giant sandstone blocks like those used at Stonehenge.

The discovery was unveiled at the British Science Festival at the University of Bradford.

At the same event last year, the Hidden Landscapes study revealed a host of archaeological features around Stonehenge.

Dr Nick Snashall, National Trust archaeologist for Stonehenge, said: ‘The Stonehenge landscape has been studied for centuries.

‘But the work of the Hidden Landscapes team is revealing previously unsuspected twists in its age-old tale.’

interesting find..stonehenge was something very important back in the day and a major meeting area..i would be surprised if they dont find even more monuments and relics from ancient days..

Joe Hockey: US central bank needs to quash global uncertainty about interest rate rise

Posted: 09 Sep 2015 04:23 PM PDT

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-09-07/hockey-says-us-central-bank-should-make-decision-on-rate-rise/6754070

America’s central bank needs to end the global uncertainty about whether it is about to raise interest rates for the first time since the global financial crisis, Treasurer Joe Hockey says.

Mr Hockey said there would be an increased chance of volatility on financial markets if the US Federal Reserve resisted the pressures and held off this month.

Mr Hockey spent the last few days in Turkey at a meeting of G20 finance ministers.

The gathering ended with a warning that global growth was falling short of expectations, but it also noted interest rates would have to rise when growth picks up.

“Whilst there are divided opinions in the room about whether the United States Federal Reserve should increase interest rates, I think the danger for the United States Federal Reserve now is that if they procrastinate, if they don’t make a decision to increase interest rates then that could be more damaging and stir more volatility on international capital markets than if they actually did move,” Mr Hockey said.

“I think it is time for the the United States Federal Reserve to move on interest rates to remove the uncertainty because even if they do increase interest rates, they’ll move from an ultra-accommodative monetary policy setting to an extremely accommodating monetary policy setting.”

He said the Reserve was “giving all the signals” they would be moving this year, but the question was whether it would happen in the next 10 days, or by end of year.

Japanese stocks soar as Asia rides global rally

Asian shares extended a global rally on Wednesday, with markets in China stabilising and Japanese stocks posting their biggest one-day gain since the height of the global financial crisis in 2008.

The upbeat mood was set to lift Europe, with financial spreadbetters expecting Britain’s FTSE 100 to open up as much as 2.2 percent, Germany’s DAX 3.6 percent higher, and France’s CAC 40 2.2 percent higher.

Japan’s Nikkei soared 7.7 percent, its biggest single-day gain since October 2008, apparently galvanized by hopes of corporate tax cuts.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the government aims to lower the corporate tax rate by a cumulative 3.3 percentage points over two years through the next fiscal year starting in April 2016.

In the previous session, the Nikkei lost 2.4 percent and wiped out its year-to-date gain.

The MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan also rallied hard, rising 3 percent as of 0534 GMT, with gains across all the major indices.

Major Wall Street indices all posted gains of more than 2 percent overnight.

European stocks also had a banner day on news Germany’s imports and exports hit record highs in value terms in July.

The Shanghai Composite index climbed 2.3 percent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index added 3.5 percent in further signs of stability.

But trading in mainland stocks and index futures remained thin, reflecting persistent investor caution, as well as the side effects of the tough medicine prescribed for China’s ailing stock market. [ID: nL4N11F174]

Chinese shares rose late on Tuesday after negotiating some dour economic news in the form of a bigger-than-expected drop in imports. The trade data raised fears that China’s slowdown could be sharper than many had expected, which in turn raised hopes that Beijing would muster more easing steps to prevent a hard landing.

“With many markets having been sold off heavily over recent weeks, today’s rally, like the U.S. last night, represents a speculative bounce,” said Angus Gluskie, managing director of White Funds Management in Sydney.

“The market will remain susceptible to a return of negativity until we see signs of some improvement in the original causes of weakness, which were predominantly Chinese growth concerns,” he said.

Is a one world religious authority in formation?

Posted: 09 Sep 2015 04:19 PM PDT

http://consciousreporter.com/war-on-consciousness/spirituality-and-the-new-world-order-is-a-one-world-religious-authority-in-formation/

Last September, Israel's ex-President Shimon Peres asked Pope Francis to head a future "UN of religions", a proposed organisation with "unquestionable" authority to proclaim God's will. Peres argued globalising faith under a single world authority is required to combat terrorism. Is this concept, which has major implications, really about peace, or is there a darker agenda behind it?

For some time now, political and economic decision-making power has devolved away from citizens and the nation-state to global multilateral organisations. As these organisations shape a new global order favouring corporate and financial elites, local populations have a diminished say in economic decisions affecting them – especially when represented by careerist politicians more aligned to the global elite.

Lately there have been signs of a top-down push for the globalisation of religion as well, with calls for global political authority over the world's spirituality.

The most obvious drive came last September when former President of Israel, Shimon Peres met with the Pope to propose the formation of a new "U.N. of religions", which the Pope would head. Peres suggested this organisation should wield the "unquestionable" authority to declare what God does and does not want, in order to combat religious extremism.

The implications are huge. 84 percent of the world's population has a spiritual faith of some kind. Together the Christian, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist religions are followed by more 5.3 billion people, and a diverse mix of folk beliefs and smaller minority faiths, from Bahai to Wicca, account for almost another half billion. With spirituality playing a central role in the lives of most of the world's population, it would seem "global governance" must inevitably take religion into account.

Various theorists have suggested a "One World Religion" will emerge as part of a "New World Order". Is it possible that powerful people in the global elite desire – if not an actual monolithic world faith – then a global hegemony over the world's spirituality, so that religions, and their followers, can be influenced through a central authority? If so, it would mean a similar model of top-down globalisation via multilateral organisations as deployed in politics, economics and trade, would be rolled out to spirituality.

But just how noble are the intentions of those vending this idea? Is their rhetoric bona fide? A closer examination suggests such a scheme is highly suspect, and part of broader agenda with ominous implications.
